People who think that makes sense to pay for a service which could be easily done with a 3 line python script deserve to lose their money, all of it.

Oracles allow for fiat-crypto-fiat smart contracts, so they cover GPI's use case perfectly.

1) smart contract changes fiat to crypto
2) crypto gets sent wherever
3) crypto gets changed back to whatever fiat at the destination

People will send near-instant transactions and will never even know they used crypto.

You have no idea how any of this works.

>the Corda settler demo and github doesn't appear to need an external Oracle for this

But they are using an external oracle.
Corda Settler only covers one crypto so far: XRP; and they're using an old XRP-specific oracle Ripple shat out in 2014.
This means that any crypto Corda Settler is going to integrate is also going to require oracles.

(btw, Corda are using XRP because they have a ton of it lying around from some ancient agreement that went sour)

What about for SWIFT GPI. If Corda settler was to initiate a payment transaction that will settle via SWIFT GPI, does it need an external oracle to send the payment instructions through to SWIFT GPI's API? Or does Corda Settler act as the Oracle itself?

Swift GPI is looking at blockchain to settle nostro accounts. This has been known for years.
Corda Settler is simply a tool for settling "any" transaction, whatever type.

>> No.15711030

But where is the oracle for the sending of payments instructions? Is a separate Oracle needed for this, or does Corda Settler act as the "oracle" by having a direct connection to the payment provider? Does GPI LINK just provide API's that Corda Settler sends payment instructions directly to?
