If the token is just a reward that node operators get for staking when why should it ever been 1000 per token? Isn't LINK just slightly one level above token not needed status? If this is the case then why should one link token be anything higher than 5 dollars?

Isn’t chainlink that pump and dump scam the news was talking about?

Think collateral fren.. not rewards.. the token is more important than you think

But just collateral cannot justify 1000 per link...that is just a small factor

Supply and demand. The value will be determined by speculation on the usage of the network.

More usage = more requesters paying node operators for jobs, meaning the have to purchase link to run their jobs

More jobs being run = more buying pressure, combined with more bulls speculating on network usage and future buying pressure.

Then there's staking. More LINK being staked = less LINK being sold on the open market. Moreover, the entities staking LINK are keen to be optimistic about the tokens value, since the payment for their past jobs technically increase as the price goes up, these people are more inclined to hold.

how can you hold the collateral of contracts that are worth millions if the price of the utility token cannot even equal the demand of the network. token price will overtime equal network demand. you should probably start to learn what a blockchain is first before you try to tackle smart contracts

Plus most will be locked in nodes. My node is operational...my link are not for sale. Supply and demand fren

you should def start in economics 101, read about supply and demand idea. maybe after that start to learn what a blockchain is.

The token isn't just a reward node operators get for staking, retard. It's also insurance in the event that a node operator behaves incorrectly or fraudulently. The insurance aspect of the token is what will drive price action because the more that insurance payout is worth in USD, the more value can be transferred on the network.
