So what's the deal with currencies that aren't recognized as legal securities in the US? I know all these exchanges get grilled by the government, but can the government fuck me over for holding them if I say, bought a huge stack of Fantom or Nexo? Even if they become legal?

I know for sure holding 0xBitcoin won't pose a problem with any U.S federal agency. It's mineable therefore it isn't a security.

1. If they were illegal at the time of purchase, SEC will not turn them legal all of the sudden.
2. They won't make STOs legal retroactively, the way most /biz/ tards imagine. Obviously because if there is a coin they are not aware of, that is an outright bullshit scam with token burns and buybacks and shit, it's not going to be suddenly legal.
3. Why would you hold a security token currency, if not with the intention of selling them? That's the only illegal part of it. Selling it.

Hope you don't hold VIDT. :^)

If you merely purchased unlicensed security tokens, you have no legal liability. The promoters, however, have big legal problems. Unlicensed security tokens may eventually get delisted from US exchanges, which could result in their prices tanking. So your holdings could certainly become collateral damage in the prosecution of unlicensed securities promoters. But you yourself have done nothing illegal just by buying them.

Yes, but you would have to sell them to cash out, which is where the problem comes in.

What makes selling them as a holder illegal? I believe that, but just curious. I ask because I hold large stacks of coins that will make me rich, but I don't want the fed to turn around and rape me even if I pay my taxes
