I've never tried options. Don't really know how they work other than I buy the contract at whatever price. If someone later buys the stock at the price listed in the contract then I get a cut of the Profits. But if no one buys then I'm fucked out of the amount I paid for the contract.

No. And, contrary to a lot of comments I see on related news stories, it isn't big tobacco either. Big tobacco, or Altria at least, is invested in vaping. The hysteria appears to be mostly public driven. Gen x teachers and parents who see kids adopting the habit and freaking out about it. Media are boosting it because it brings in good ratings. Trump's move to stamp down on flavoring is ridiculous. There are all sorts of things teenage minors want to buy/consume regardless of whether the products are marketed specifically to them. Not on black or grey market products. I assume you're talking about the vitamin E acetate issue for THC oil carts? Those are the ones causing real health issues. Standard nicotine e-liquid, in bottled or cart form, do not contain vitamin e acetate. Never have. There was no reason to use it. Vitamin E acetate was used by shady dealers to make the liquid thicker, which, apparently, made the liquid seem more "pure", or I suppose more concentrated, to the consumer. Nicotine e-juice is plenty thick enough due to vegetable glycerine making up 50%+ of the mixture in the most popular liquids. Also you don't want extra thick e-liquid as that makes it wick poorly through the cotton wicked heating coils.

I heard a piece of advice a long time ago that I didn't really listen too, but was pretty sound. The advice was to focus on one narrow issue and trade that. Coffee, for example. Just trade that one commodity. If everyday you read and follow news about that one issue, then in a relatively short amount of time you will become pretty knowledgeable about it. It's the volatility index for sp500. It's calculated from options iv which is the expected future market range/volatility. If the chart is stable vix is low. If shit is going down vix goes up. If you look at $vix on tradingview that what you see is spot vix. You can't trade this. You can only buy derivatives like options and etn...which have massive rollover costs because contango.
Look at UVXY and notice that it's going straight into the ground. That's because of roll over. You can't just buy vix and do a little wait and see.
Would be easy af since vix is high vola in low range. Buy in the lower half and wait it out until you're green. There was $xiv which was a $vix inverse (who would have guessed). It was a sure way to make a lot of money until it wasn't.
