I have/had a good way to make money without college and made a few hundred k from 18-20 yo. I thought about dropping out of college because I (almost) didn't have time for my work and college at the same time. Everyone around me told me to stay in college because I was attending a great university and good good grades. Instead of choosing either college or my work, I tried to do both for a few years. As a result, I didn't make as much money as I could have, I didn't get as good grades as I could have gotten, I didn't have any time for friends and I even had to retake a couple of classes. I'm not sure if I should have dropped out of college or quit my work, but doing both was a mistake. That being said, I'm still doing better than most people my age.

My advice for young people is to choose a career path and then commit 100% to it. I you want to go to college then do everything you can to get great internships, good grades etc. If you don't think you'll use your college degree for much then don't fucking go.

Think about your interests and what you're good at. As long as you don't go for a meme career/ degree then don't choose a career path for the money. I know people who went to law school just for the money and are miserable because they don't actually enjoy it. You can make a lot of money from most career paths if you work hard and are good at it.

Are you good at math, enjoy strategy games and are interested in economics? Perhaps finance is a good major for you.
Do you enjoy building/ designing things and are you interested in computers/ science? Perhaps computer science or engineering is a good major for you.

Talk to students/ graduates from different majors you might be interested in. Try to attend a few classes if possible. A lot of careers/ majors are very different from what the general population thinks.
I majored in business administration/ finance. A lot of my class mates dropped out because finance has a lot more math than they initially thought. The math isn't super complicated but you have to enjoy spending hours analyzing numbers. It's definitely not for everyone.
Don't choose a career/major based on what you think it's like if you really don't know. A lot of careers/ majors are very different from what they are portrayed as in movies. In movies you usually only see the aspects of the career that most people find exciting. E.g. in movies about lawyers you don't see them spending countless hours reading through laws..
