I'm addicted to PMs. I really love Peace Dollars.
It's fucking nuts that I spend 25 Goy Bucks for some antique dollar coin that was spent carelessly by our grand dads. We never truly know what we have until it's gone.

Mostly BU, which is about right.
I like pre-depression era stuff.
Life was much different. It still blows my fucking mind that this was almost 100 years ago.
I can usually work out a deal with my local coin dealer. But I've found some pretty nice conditioned ones at pawn shops unironically.

How did you buy it, bars or coins? And if coins, from which country?

I mention it because there is a certain logic of buying your silver in American Eagle coins, since they have both silver value and collector value. For example, 1 oz coins from 1996 (in the quality that you get if you bought them new) are about $100, which = $100/oz

Not all coins have the same gains, but ALL of them have some gain that put their value above the price of the silver alone.

I don't know enough about Canadian coin prices to have an intelligent opinion. But I imagine the same principle holds.

Generic stuff like rounds, bars, and even scrap will be cheaper (closer to spot), but no one is ever going to pay a premium on a 20 year old generic round.

That's why I like the idea of the monster box. Sealed at the mint, never handled by human hands, far more likely to appreciate in value and to be quality coins.

(Sadly) I can't afford a gold monster box, but a silver box is doable for many people.

Bars are more convenient for storage. And yes, they look more impressive, but you're talking about an end-of-the-world scenario.

If the world goes mad max, you won't be able to do trade with bars. Either you would have to spend an entire bar at once, or you'd have to carve off portions of it, which then involves weights, etc.

But one ounce coins are fungible. You can spend one (or more) for a purchase while retaining the integrity (and security) of the rest. And if they're nation coins (like American Eagles), they will probably be more trustworthy than generic silver rounds, which "could" be silver, but "could" be anything else.
