From previous thread

>so the highest profit margin must be just games and people get those online
Yes, specifically used games. GameStop can make a 50% profit on used games as opposed to a 10% profit on a new game. However, the used game market is in freefall
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-04-02-pre-owned-game-sales-are-in-freefall-in-the-uk
>fewer big-budget, triple-A video games coming out, the focus on Games as a Service and an increasing trend towards downloads has had a significant impact.
>Games, now, are designed to be played for months, even years on end, with live services key to ongoing publisher revenue. Fewer people are trading in games, which means there are fewer pre-owned games available to buy.
>And then there's the push for subscription services from the likes of Microsoft (Xbox Game Pass), Sony (PlayStation Now) and EA (Origin Access), among others, which sell you access to a library of titles for a monthly fee.

Plus, if you like a good old conspiracy
[YouTube] SHOCKING Gamestop Bombshell | Lying to Investors (embed)
>GameStop falsely selling new games as used games, GameStop's main source of revenue, to trick investors into thinking that the used game market is far larger than it actually is (Admittedly this is just conjecture right now)

>314% growth since 2013
>recession-proof global industry.
>high ROIC
>diverse new product areas
> Zoetis generates roughly twice the revenue and 16x the profits of its closest competitor Elanco
>isn't too reliant on blockbuster brands, nor acquisitions, nor new products for growth. Instead, it's proving capable of maximizing the returns of each.

Zoetis is developing a pipeline of monoclonal antibodies to treat pain in dogs. Biologic drugs such as these are normally only used for humans but people tend to go to great lengths for their pets, and with significantly less regulatory oversight than human therapies this venture could well be a huge breakthrough in animal healthcare

It's a fairly standard price, can't speak for you area but across the board 5-10% is normal. They can manage hundreds of properties simultaneously as there will only ever be a handful that will have issues that need addressing at any one time.

Talk to some local letting agents and see what prices they offer. Remember to pick a letting agent that prioritises quality of tenant over filling the property ASAP. It will benefit you a lot more in the long run to miss out on a month's rent finding a tenant that will stay long term and keep the property in good condition than letting it on day one only for it to be trashed within a year

yeah I felt the same way. I'd be willing to freeze rent for any tenant that always paid rent on time and did no damage. My main interest in getting a house is to have someone else pay for my leverage to get other properties, and to be able to have someone else pay for my kids house.

Seems even a bit safe with how big that bond chunk is, but sound good? I'm not opposed to managing it myself, but id rather let this be somewhat safe and my IRAs can be dedicated to more tweaking.

He is unstoppable oh yes indeed. Even that pussy activist investor group can't hope to sway Him. That group dropped 3.2 Billion into Him. Ha, that's merely a Drop in the bucket compared to 270 bil. I hope the board tells them to Fuck Off and goes on with business as usual. Now that group will know the Wraith of Him as our boy Stephenson has hired some big shot firm to guard against any chance they got to try to do any harm.

Our boy Stephenson has done things quite well so far, just look at what's happening over these last few months. Debt is down, Profits is Up, The stock price is moving Up. That group should just leave things alone and just sit back and watch as the Profit piles up.

I'm tempted to write the board myself, telling them exactly what they should do with that group of nuts. But it seems our boy Stephenson has it well in hand. Tell them to kiss his ass.

WHEN, though? ASH? A year from now? 2 years?

It hurts because I've researched the shit out of the company and everything looks so good about it fundamentally, I just can't understand why the SP is so low and keeps going down. It makes no fucking sense to me. I'm willing to at LEAST wait until ASH since there are rumors that they're under an embargo and won't tell us the big news until then, but jesus fucking christ dude im down like $4k right now at this price. I'll keep averaging down and probably give it at least a year to at least give me my money back, but probably never going to trade on fundamentals ever again.

That said, the idea is still there that if it DOES pop off, I'm set to make quite a bit of money. Just feels fucking bad right now I just wish I knew why the SP was going down so much even though literally all of the news surrounding the company is solid as a fucking rock. I don't fucking get it, if the drugs were shit or they had no partners or the CEO was a coke fiend or something I'd understand, but everything is good yet it keeps going down. I just don't get it that's the worst part. And December isn't exactly soon.

>stock dips

>refuse to buy
>stock pumps for a almost a month
>buy
>it crashes

>set sell call option as stock has dumped massively and stagnated so i can at least make a little bit of money should it stay down
>pumps to strike price and passes it
>all that effort down the drain
>as if i never owned the stock
>refuse to buy a lot more as my sell call gasnt been exercised, cant risk the price crashing after buying and then suddenly my bags are even heavier

This is getting tiresome. I change my action of when to buy and I still lose yet I refuse and it mostly goes upward trending. I buy and I get stuck holding bags. I refuse to buy and it goes up 15-
33%. Starting to think I should play recklessly considering my current method isn't working.

Also holding heavy gold mining stock bags. Of all the times to buy. At this point I should reduce overall stocks I'm holding once calls are done and stocks go above breakeven as I have way too much invested with a possible depression looming.

This sounds like you're trading behind the curve and then making impatient sells or fear based sells. Even when you're swing trading it's important to have confidence on the company's short term future based on your research on their financials and upcoming catalysts (good or bad).

Maybe cool it on the options for a bit. I don't recommend options for profit (rather than as a hedge) until you're very confident in your strategy on the underlying common shares.

With AMRN so many good options could lead to Profit.

$23 per w/ no buyout (lowball) - $9,752.00
w/buyout = $19,504.00

30 per w/no buyout (average) -$12,720.00
w/buyout $25,440.00

50 per w/no buyout (current high) $21,200.00
w/buyout $42,400.00

Real world if a buyout happens I'd guess the price would be somewhere in the middle of the avg and high options. If they go it alone, the sky is the limit. All depends on sales. Which means it'd take longer for the Profit to come to you but your apt to get more of it. V.S a buyout you'd get a nice Fat Wad right then and there. So really its all how you want to play it and your $$ needs. Above figures could also be meaningless and the actual Profit would be much higher, depending on buyout terms.

I just hope I don't get fucked, like... I have no problem waiting, I just wish I had more of a guarantee, though I suppose that's wishful thinking. Pay it while cursing the government. However, one advantage being a leaf has over being burger for trading is the tax free savings account (TFSA). Contrary to the name it's not really a savings account. More like a capped trading account. No capital gains tax but also no tax deduction allowed on capital losses inside the TFSA. So many of our little /smg/ posters who try to trade options think "oh, I would have made money if I had just made slightly better decisions".
Nah, that's just how it works. You got crabbed. You have to make real significant correct decisions to beat the market with options, because they are (theoretically, mathematically) EV neutral, but once you fight the spread and taxes you end up EV negative for a blind option strategy.
To make money with stocks you don't have to out-think the market, you just have to be there for as long as you can.

From what I've researched, to make money in the market you don't have to out-think the market, you have to think LIKE the market. You have to use the tools you have available to create a system that doesn't tell you the future, but allows you to say something like "i don't know what will happen next, all I can tell you is that this price action is likely moving in a bullish/bearish direction, and using these rules i will stay in this trade until it is no longer doing that in this time frame". Something like that. Right now I'm in the process of forward testing it with a paper trading account, and it's been working quite well.

Basically you're just trying to predict the near-future and have a backtested strategy that effectively tells you when the up or down trend is no longer happening, even if it's the very next candle.

Hell I like Green as much as anyone but if I get an e-mail from AMRN stating they've sold the company and I'm getting 42k for my shares, well I'll take it and be mighty happy.

Added to my current net worth that'd put me at around $80 ish thousand dollars. Free and clear. Fuck I can't wait. I make shit now btw.

>How goes all that analysis you're doing though when someone like trump can throw a 30 femtosecond tweet and invalidate everything

It's called a stop loss you fucking mong, jesus christ how new are you? Like you've never even heard of HFT's before, like they don't happen even besides Trump throughout history.

A reverse split won't pump your calls
The value might fall even farther, usually does after a R/S.
It's a learning opportunity ;^)

Should I really bother with stoplosses?
They seem to trigger right before the stock rebounds, in my experience.

For surely do stop losses. There's a trick to them though. Knowing when to have a stop loss, when to use no stop loss because you expect wild volatility, how much of your position to stop loss, whether or not you want to do staggered stop losses; say one tight one, one medium drawdown one and another even futher down. Or if at that point you'd rather put low ball buy bids to cost average. It's kind of an art all its own.

ROTH. always ROTH.

you're gonna pay your taxes, you might as well just pay them on the initial investment instead of the part you put in AND the growth.

Roth grows tax free. TAX FREE GROWTH.

>honestly, try using a demo account, thinkorswim comes with a paper trading account that gives you $200k to play with. if you don't know what you're doing you shouldn't be trading real money, ESPECIALLY options.

Simulated cash would alter my behavior though. Real money forces me to behaves as if I am betting with real money. Because I am.

I only put $150 to start, which thankfully is not a large sum to me right now.

(I have about $235k in various index funds/etfs)

My main goal is just to make small bets, study charts+news and apply it, and soak up info here. /smg/ is by far the sole beacon of usefulness on /biz/. I actually learn here.
