Sure, in theory. Exercise that free will in any of the infinite wrong directions and it'll disappear pretty quick

Sure, you can run into the woods in that picture, get yourself lost and then get eaten by a pack of wolves. That's free will.

everything is pre determined. you have the illusion of free will. as soon as we are reincarnated into your next life, every single aspect of that existence is predetermined as well and so on

It is enlightening, isn't it? So many people are slaves to others expectations and demands without even being conscious about their own behavior.

But what brought about that realization? Thoughts don't randomly appear in your head, they need to be stimulated by something. Your brain takes information from your senses, interprets it, then decides what to do with it. That is all you are. I can 100% guarantee you that you're only thinking about free will because you happened upon the topic somehow.

Another free will trap is to start thinking about random things to try to prove that you can think of things without provocation. However, you would never have started thinking about random things in the first place if you weren't thinking about the topic of free will. You tried to reject your enslavement but have only confirmed it. There can be no such thing as pure free will because you are limited to only thinking about the things detected by your senses.

You have free will in terms of deciding what you want to do, but you're only acting upon information your senses gathered. What your consciousness is is acting upon this information and deciding how to react. If you decide that is what free will is because you have the free will to decide what is free will, then you have free will and that's good enough given your limited circumstances. Just remember that you are never truly free. It's impossible to imagine what a true consciousness would be like because our brains lack the structure. Can true conscious ever exist? If not, then this limited consciousness of only thinking about your vicinity is the peak and you are the most free thing in the universe.

>> No.15514908

you can't prove free will unless you can prove one instance of pure randomness. everything event in life can be recreated if all other conditions hold true - there's no randomness here. even you flipping a coin is determined by which direction the coin started, how hard you flicked it, and the surface that it lands on. recreate those conditions and it flips a heads every time. and of course everything in computing is pseudo random. it's 'random enough' for us to get by, but not actually random. we are not even sure if randomness is actually possible or if it's just an concept that we take implicitly as truth so that we don't have to question it every day and can move on to other things. and here you are talking about how you know that you have free will. do you really think you're so special that you came to a realization that our entire collective history of brilliant minds couldn't understand? you don't even make an argument, you just say "all of a sudden I know this fact about life that before me was one of life's greatest mysteries, but I solved it guys. how do i know? i just do, all of a sudden".

>everything is predetermined
Have you not heard of the heisenberg uncertainty principle? The randomness of quantum physics ensures that the universe cannot be predicted. You can predict the paths of objects and that events will happen, but not absolutely. Over time, these uncertainties have outstanding effects due to the butterfly effect.

being conscious about your own behavior has nothing to do with free will. you just think you're making a choice, but that's the only choice you could ever make if you were to repeat that scenario for eternity

>> No.15514948

>>15514918
the whole reason why we cannot observe both at the same time is because we live in a determined universe. quantam level is the only place where 'true' randomness can be seen, and true is in quotations because we don't know wtf is going on, so who knows if it's actually random or not or if randomness is even relevant at that level. real agency over ones actions might exist in some reality beyond our own, but humans are playing out the same story over and over

Pretty much yea. Predetermined by existence itself, and not arguing for an origin of that existence either. Yet neither am I stating that free will does not exist, only that everything that does occur was made to occur by existence and will always of occurred because it exists.

so if a pack of niggers break into your house tonight, rape and flay you and everyone else there - that was "made to occur by existence"

people's conceptions about free will or the lack thereof are very limited. it seems quite obvious to anyone that the conscious mind is an emergent phenomenon and that free will is limited only to our conscious choices. our subconscious mind is just a treasury we grab from, it might control us if we made immoral choices.

I don’t think we do to be honest. It’s an illusion of free will. Eating your favorite food isn’t free will it’s what you were planned to do and think to do in that moment. This seems more like a simulation every day.

The ability of big data to predict your every single decision negate your statement. But believing in free will is healthy for you and for society. Tha main problem being that without true free will all Judeo/Christian ethical teaching crash and burn like world trade center.

What you need to realize is that the universe as you experience it is actually a simulation created within your brain based on sensory information collected from present and past experience.

With this knowledge the only thing in the universe you can truly have control over is your own experience of it. It's your choice to be content or depressed, self aware or not etc.
