>Gold and Silver investment fags stay mad.
>I bought this Imperial Topaz for $10 from an Estate.
>It's fucking 40 carats and in the upper 1% of circulating stones that large.
>It's worth $6000+ after I apply a custom cut.
>Commodities are superior to metals.
Why aren't you investing in commodities?

So what does it do? Turn my Imperial Topaz Armour into Fine Imperial Topaz Armour?

You need items with sockets to use gems though

>> No.15426261

>>15425619
Are you going to socket it for more magic find? Think of the long term gains

>> No.15426270

good on you op for having a lucrative hustle, but one major function metals have over gems is fungability. No two gemstones are the same, but an ounce of silver, is an ounce of silver. Which is why precious metals worked as money for so long.

But fuck it, good find and you should post the before and after pics.

Nothing wrong with hard craftsmanship. Except that gold & silver are real money, and you have literal shiny rocks.

Lol I am the gem cutter. That's an Ultratec V2 from 98. It's old but still top of the line for an analog machine. I'm probably going to practice on smaller imperial topaz before cutting the big one so I don't fuck up. I'm low-key afraid to cut this since it's so expensive. I also need to find or create a marquise design that's domed to maximize the carat output and keep it above 30 carats (Starting at 40) so it should be in the shape similar to a football.

>>15426261
When I eventually cut it (which may take a few months until I'm mentally prepared) I'm probably going to have it set but I'm not sure how I should go about it so it doesn't make me look gay. Typically, gemstones are for women which I am not. I could have a dagger created but it's not functional to have in commiefornia.

>is going to wear it himself
Confirmed fagoloid. Just set it in women's ((jew))elery and sell it to some heiress.

>> No.15427713

>>15426251
True but custom gems retail for 40 - 60% more than commercial cuts. So take that $7000 and add on another 50% to the final value. Hiring a bench jeweler to create a custom setting in silver is a small price to pay for something like this. Hell, I could probably bribe the jeweler with rare custom stones instead of cash.

>> No.15427726

>>15427701
That's the problem. Making it not look gay as fuck. The only solution is to set the stone in a dagger.
