15422456 No.15422456 [Reply] [Original]

hurricane Dorian is going to hit in a few days in Florida and I don’t know what the fuck to do. How do I determine whether I should evacuate? I have no fucking clue where to look or what to search for if I should leave or not. Please help!

>> No.15422485

I didn't even evacuate when that cat 5 hit me in 2017. This is just a cat 3 so it's not even worth taking any precautions over.

Ok thanks that helps. How bad is a 3 though? I’m wondering if I should just leave and stay at a hotel just for the convenience and comfort factor. I don’t want to be stuck with no power and a shitty few days potentially if I stay. Is a 3 really bad?

Your power probably won't go out with a Cat 3 is just a bad thunderstorm with some decent wind. The cat 5 actually made me reconsider my choice to stay because my palm trees were at like a 45 degree angle and my house seemed like it could be lifted into the air at any moment. But my power was only out for a few hours though.

Fellow Floridian 26 year old neet here.

If its below a category iii, I might put on some goggles and a rainjacket and take a walk outside. Even if youre in the cities, you might find wildlife blooming in it like asian walking catfish or a gator under road bridges.

If youre not in a piece of shit house next to an enormous ficus tree, you should be fine. Here are some things to consider;

1. Your electricity might go out for either hours or up to 2 weeks depending if youre close to the metropolitan areas or areas with money or if you live in a broke shit surburb of a county that exists to house wagies.
2. Find out if your water plumbing and source of heat for cooking is dependant on the electricity. Plan accordingly. Gas gril or a buouy grill and charcoal is a fine substitute.
3. Have 2 weeks of ration and water. Honestly brown rice and beans (canned if youre a lazy fuck) is all you really need. Prepare for your fridge and freezer to die and if you dont have a generator, plan as to how you will cook them; ice cream soup is a real theme in post hurricane florida; some people will also do major cookouts when this happens to a neighborhood
4. If you have a generator and live in a shitty area or near one, keep it locked or affized to your house. Theyre worth cash and desperation will drive people to steal but this is more of a minor issue.
5. If you have any decent relationships with your neighbors, hurricanes can bring opportunities for networking and survival.
6. Your property might get flooded check where you live.
7. Disconnect your gaming rig and laptop from the wall during the storm, ive seen bros data and machines busted from surges. Same goes for sound stereo.
8. Make sure your car isnt parked under a tree. Category II and above hurricanes can rip trees down the middle.

Ill post more if i remember anything else.
