Among developed nations, you have to use Purchasing Power Parity. In that regard, the US is not so far ahead of western Europe and most certainly not by a whole number multiple.

Wages are high for certain professions in the US but health care costs are the highest on the planet (not a big deal if you're healthy), there is no pension plan (Social Security is likely to go bust and is not backed by a sovereign wealth fund), housing/rent is high, there is no public transportation, etc. There are a lot of things to like in the US but this is a relatively tough place to make a good living.

>> No.15408206

healthcare costs only matter to people with no jobs or bad ones, every job I have ever worked had full comprehensive plans that paid for everything over $2k. You will not find a job that pays over 60k without a health care plan, don't fall for the overblown healthcare scare in the media. Housing and rent are only high in coastal areas and cities, in the rest of the country they are much cheaper than anywhere in Europe. If you consider SS to be bust then you should consider most European pension plans to be bust as well.

A restaurant manager schedules too few hosts for a given night.
The immediate fix is to help the hosts do their job than night.
The longterm fix is to schedule more hosts for similar nights in the future.
If I'm a host and it's getting too much for us and our manager responds to this by running in back and scheduling more hosts for tomorrow night, then they are a bad manager.
A good manager would help the hosts now and fix the schedule when shit dies down.

American Empire is on its last legs and can only exist because of its projected military power. However, our military is a paper tiger, we rarely win wars when the small country we're bombing is backed by a real country, and internally we're going to shit. Plus not to mention that international conflict just isn't solved by war anymore. American cybersecurity is so bad that I wouldn't be surprised if China couldn't shut down all our logistics for months on end. The only thing our military is good for is killing white people in its own country since God knows that defending our borders is what Hitler would do and anyone that suggests that we should do that is a neo-Hitler in waiting that needs to be jailed/killed pre-emptively.

Your country must be DOGSHIT then. Somehow I feel you are full of shit about the whole "buying power" thing.

1. Discouraged workers (someone that wants a job, but gave up and hasn't applied in over 4 weeks) are NOT counted as unemployed.

2. People who make HARDSHIP wages ARE counted as employed.

Putting those 2 together = makes the unemployment stat look better/lower than it actually is. It is a lie that fools without critical thinking believe.

44% of 22-27 yr old college grads are underemployed (inb4 just do computer science as if everyone is capable of that. Even they have like a 24ish% underemployment rate for 22-27 yr olds: https://www.newyorkfed.org/research/college-labor-market/college-labor-market_compare-majors.html
Think about that. NEARLY 1/4 cs graduates aged 22-27 will be underemployed (don't know how it evens out over time. Still not amazing though. It's around 34% when including all ages and all majors).

78% of full time workers live paycheck to paycheck ( *LITERALLY one paycheck away from homelessness and that is basically poverty* ). *42% of americans will retire broke* (so you give up the best years of your life being someone's bitch just to retire with nothing), 57% of americans can't afford an unexpected 500 dollar bill, 50% of renters are cost burdened (spend over 30% of their income on rent. Half of those spend over 50% of their income on rent), 30% of metropolis city jobs (where most jobs are created) pay hardship wages (not enough to move out with) and 32% pay livable wages (basically poverty) which leaves 38% that are decent (I say decent because you also have to take into consideration the toxicity of work culture. Also, some jobs ONLY pay livable or up BECAUSE of the hours put in. For instance, the average american works 47 hours a week. 49% work 50 hours or more a week. Both of which inflate the wage stats into looking better than it actually is), etc.

Welcome to the "land of opportunity" (load of bullshit).

You aren't incentivized to be a good worker anymore. For multiple reasons, every workplace more or less has to "grade" people based on some kind of hard metric, and all decisions, hiring, firing, promotions, bonuses, etc, have to be based on these metrics.
There are a lot of problems with this approach. Usually, no matter what the metric is, you can "cheat" to pump up your numbers there, even if you're screwing the company over in the long run or in another area. This leads to everyone having a singular objective that probably doesn't mesh with everyone else's, but getting anything done at any kind of corporate job is going to necessitate bringing in at least a few people. This is how you wind up in the "I did everything I could and needed an answer that I haven't gotten in 3 months, that's why my progress has been 0% in the last quarter". It's hard spending every day knowing your compensation is based on a metric that you have no control over, or could be 10x as high if you got the necessary support, and that would most likely put you in a position to make more or get a promotion.
You can also find yourself in a bit of a hopeless situation because of this. Example:
>Start entry level job, 30k salary
>Work 1 year, raises up to 35k
>Now at the salary cap for your position's salary bracket
>Have to get a promotion or new job to advance
>Average time at each job is 1 year or under, so can't get a new job
>Don't have enough "experience" for promotion because 5 years required, even if you could do the job fine. They would waive that if you had an advanced degree, which would cost you $80k and would take 2 years.
Constantly being in positions like this is tiring, when it doesn't seem like there is a way forward for years. People want to work toward a better future, not to get their few shekels for the day and repeat, and I think mobility is a little fucked if you don't somehow break the "rules".

I know this is just a boomer meme, but it's more that it's become a bit more pay to play, or just arbitrarily wait versus old school boomer hard work.
If I work unpaid overtime every week I'll get a promotion in 5 years, but if I show up late and half ass, I'll get promoted in 5 years anyways, just because I'll have so much experience on paper.
Also should say I'm not exactly complaining myself, it's up to me to find a new opportunity, and I think I'm more the kind of person to bounce around to different jobs every few years anyways, but gone are the days of working up from warehouse worker to CEO without going back to school or anything.

clickbait definition of "paycheck to paycheck". these same people are making their mortgage payments and earning more value in their home. just look at average net worth values to debunk this. younger people are still building up but older have lots of value. No shit people spend most of the money they get.
>44% of 22-27 yr old college grads are underemployed
and the rates are the same in europe, did you forget to check those numbers?

earlier today I was on my phone and I read an article about how baby boomers are rapidly reaching the age where they will no longer be able to care for themselves, and how there aren't enough people employed in the caregiving field to take care of them. Somehow this is all of our problem. For some reason, this is suppose to be OUR problem.

Fuck boomers. Can't wait to see those arrogant assholes sitting in their own shit, begging some wagie to change their diaper.

The most absurd thing about wageslavery is how they have normalized the lengths of "time off" you are expected to take maybe a day off from work if you have a cold, when it takes weeks to get over one. A sabbatical would be seen as unjustifiably decadent. You get a couple weeks and a handful of holidays, and once you retire you get a retirement job to "keep busy"

nationalizing resources and paying them out to citizens is not the same thing as UBI. UBI is not backed by anything so don't conflate the two.
but its also worth noting Venuzuela had the same system. Once oil prices tanked their economy died since that was their only income. UBI must be backed by taxation of labor, meaning working people lose money to give to the lazy.
>Most issues are from cash flow. Having ubi would help with that.
again, 18 year old troll logic. The free market decided these businesses were not in demand, so the free market naturally let them die instead of wasting resources propping them up. Imagine instead of mcdonalds (or our restaurant of choice), you're forced to eat at an expensive place with shitty food and slow service, because the government "helped them with cash flow". Or more realistically your favorite restaurant has to raise prices to pay for the shitty restaurants they're taxed to help them with their cash flow.
The free market allows shitty businesses to die because customers have the say in what succeeds, rather than bureaucrats.

Transportation costs, heating, employees, all this stuff has not been automated, and is no where near it.
But I really can not argue against fantasies.

for example, say 3d printers really made houses $1000. Then you could borrow a 3d printer from someone pretty easy, since people will copy it or the chinese will lease it to you for a small price.
But this isn't happening because automating a quality house simply is not possible in 2019.

The job market in the last decade has taken a fucking nose dive , people are getting overworked and not being proportionally renumerated.

You have employers now paying you less money, but expecting you to work 2-3 persons jobs, most places are continuously short staffed, the temps they get in dont last because they take the absolute piss 'one more thing, oh and another thing, and another thing'.

I work in finance and in over a decade ive noticed a serious decline in work environments, you start a job with 'x description' after a month of being there you are doing 'x,y,z' jobs, and then another 3 months its double that. but your pay stays the same and there is never enough people to get the job done efficiently.

The salary expectations is so fucking laughable too that I could be earning the same kind of money in construction, they want to pay you fuck all, but still do x3 persons jobs. No wonder people quit, and theres a high turnover, and not only this because there is a high turnover the work becomes so obfuscated that its got about 20 peoples fingerprints on in a 5 year time span, meaning the room for error is MASSIVE and that you are trying to figure out what the fuck these people were doing, finding errors big and small everywhere that they left.

Ultimately if the employer has 0 rtespect for the employee's dont expect any respect or loyalty back, its a self fulfilling prophecy.

>they don't offer the human interaction many customers want.
Well, 110 years ago, people thought humans could never reach the skies. I believe we're very near that stage.

The hell? What's wrong with zoomers?? Can't they literally sacrifice 5 minutes of their precious free time (which is more than ever in history) to deal with the stuff they're too lazy to complete at work? When I worked as a consultant we basically had to be available 20 hours a day. But it's fine, because we were very well compensated for it. And now zoomers earn more than ever yet demand to skip as much work as they can. Fucking disgusting, they're the final nail in the western society. You never hear about the hard working nips complaining.

America needs to get with the rest of the world program wise. Denmark is doing it right. 35 hour work week, productivity went up a shit load because people were happier. A happy employee is a hard working employee. People today get no insurance, no benefits, shit hours in the evening and on weekends, no break, no guaranteed vacation time - and absolutely SHIT pay. These corporations seemed shocked theyre employees not only give zero fucks about the job, but just call out any time they want a day off cause they feel theyre over worked. The workforce is fighting back after making it so rich assholes can buy 10 bugattis, do whatever the fuck they want, use their excess money to buy politicians and pass laws they want to benefit them - are reaping what they fucking sowed.
