Never fully understood what value sales adds. They dont build stuff, just a middle man that somehow adds value ?. It can be customer service in a way but that's a generally low pay job.

Furthermore nowadays with booming online industry, price comparisons and everything when you can simply check and buy online what you need, why is sales still such a big thing ?

Sales is about leveraging social connections and social skills.
Autistic developers typically think they know better than salesmen/business dev until the point they coded their whole shit and realize absolutely noone use it.

In more conventional business it's more about relationships, if you develop relationships with your clients you have more chances to retain them.

For example let's say a concurrent makes some shit for 3% less, the relatonship with the salesman will probably be the difference between them remaining with you or leaving without a word, and if they want to leave you have more chances that they will notice you and give you the opportunity to make a counter offer.
