Brainlet here.
I have been following this anons instructions to setup a chainlink node: https://pastebin.com/Q6Wpr4dQ

and am stuck at 202
>echo "my_wallet_password" > ~/.chainlink-ropsten/.password
>where "my_wallet_password" is the wallet password of your node.

What is the wallet password of my node?
I have tried every password I set up during the process of going through the pastebin but none works.

Is this something I should have done before?

The private key to the wallet our node will be using for transactions

where do I find this?
I have only nominal experience (I have a Idex and coinbase account).
Please explain like I am literally retarded

You are going down a path where you will loose all of your money...

I know but I only started like a week ago.
A lot of this is new to me.

So aapart from that any recommendations an where to set up a wallet or should I buy a physical one?

When you first run the node it would ask you for your wallet password. THEN another api email and password for the GUI interface. The first password you entered is what u need.

Use a trezor and generate your keys on it unless you are 110% sure your pc is not pwned.

Just use this one...

Doesn't matter I use the older model and it's fine. Whichever is cheaper, just make sure you buy from the official trezor site if you want to be 100% sure its safe

So anything I can do before I get my hands on the trezor or do I have to wait until it is delivered to me?

>> No.15312716

You can set up a wallet on mew whenever you want. But as I said, if your not 110% sure you dont have any type of spyware or malware I wouldnt risk putting money in it. Just get a hardware wallet.

I don't plan on moving all my linkies on my node either way.
So theoretically could I set up a local wallet and later move it to the physical one?

>> No.15312812

>>15312742
Idk you are further along than me on node running but I would imagine you can change wallet addresses. I personally wouldnt risk it but to each their own.

This wallet password is to just unlock the key store file. It can “password123” or whatever you want. When you first ran the node, you entered a password right?

>> No.15312853

>>15312833
yes

>> No.15312867

>>15312853
Then that’s the password.

The other one .api is the email and password for the GUI.

You don't use that wallet.

Going through this guide, you'll deploy your own oracle contract with a wallet of your choice. That's the wallet that you would use to transact any earned LINK once you have fulfilled requests. This also gives you some added security by separating the wallet for your Chainlink node from the wallet that controls your funds.
