What is great with this browser is that it is built with blockchain and decentralization in mind they're about to integrate an ethereum wallet compatible with ledger or trezor, they use cryptography to synchronize your data across devices instead of relying on google goodwill to protect your privacy, and yes it is faster than google chrome since they block all the trackers. I can see the difference in speed, it is obvious.

If you're goal is just to hide your traffic to your ISP you don't need to be extra careful, a basic tor implementation like this one is good.

There is no possible way to run a profitable ads business if you don't offer to advertisers the guarantee that their ads won't be associated to 'bad' contents. It doesn't matter if the advertising side of Brave is not neutral or decentralized, it was never expected to be, as it would be stupid to expect Google adsense to not ban any website. These websites will have other totally decentralized user friendly options to receive payments in the future, such as extensions that allow to easily donate in directly in ethereum.
It is still a great browser for other reasons totally independent from their reward system. For example the tor option, and the integrated ethereum wallet (soon to launch) are things that are missing in Chrome.

The funny thing is that BAT is actually the first true bitcoin on-ramp.
