It’s a weird job as a field engineer. For starters, it is a low base salary $75k. When on the job site, you are working 7-12’s (7 hours a day, 12 days a week). However, they have an incentive. When you have worked 1650 hours a year, you get a premium for each hour worked beyond that, $46 per hour on top of your base salary. Last year I worked grueling hours and hardly made shit but got a lot of time off. This year, I have worked all year and just hit my premium. I will make something in the realm of $25,000 in the next month.

However, since joining I have gained 40 lbs, have a less fulfilling sex life, and am pretty miserable about 100 percent of the time. (Either working 24/7 and stressed, or home alone with no friends because you’re on the road most of the year).

I like this job because of the potential to make massive amounts of money, but at what point is money not worth poor quality of life?

I plan to do this for a few years until all my credit cards, student loans, and half my mortgage is paid off, but until then I will keep on grinding.

You are so fucking stupid that you think there is 12 days in a week.
