I am 30 years old, I have a bacehlores degree in finance from the university of north carolina (at Charlotte...so yeah..not the REAL UNC)

I've been working as a teller at one of the companies (suntrust) for about a year and a half.

My branch meets expectations (Like we do 102% of our quota for perfromance) and I am an below average to average employee.

The CEO's say that all performing employees will have a job when the merger settles.

My branch is 10 mintues away from the two nearest BBT branches, and one of those BBT branches is next to another suntrust branch that is one of the worst branches in the region (But they are an owned building, a very big owned building that has some new staff comprising of promoted highly performing people from other branches, and a new manager who was the manager of the best performing branch in the region and they're starting to really turn things around there) they are directly across the street from another BBT branch.

They have announced that every employee, after the merger, will receive a 1500$ bonus.

I feel like I'm about to enter the fucking hunger games...all people are talking about is the mid-level people who are being told their position will be "changing"

I'm just a humble teller, how do I survive this craziness??

Dude if you have a bachelor's degree you should be applying for other banks' accounting and finance departments. Focus on regional banks that are looking for hungry, young talent. Get the fuck out of there.

T. work in finance at a regional

I want too, i freaking hate dealing with clients, I really want to get into underwriting, i think I would excel there...I am in charlotte where the new headquarters will be, so I'm biding my time for now, but I want to make sure I'm a good enough teller to live through the transition

Isn't teller an entry-level job at like $15 per hour? How embarrassing. You should find a better job.

Second this, get a better job. There will be a bloodbath if the company is half way competent. There is no reason to keep all the staff in your area.

I know, heres the thing about me...it took 7 years to get the degree, i kind of suck

>>15254548
Fuck you! I'm only 18k in debt!! HA HA i took a year off and when i came back i paid for all my classes in cash

I know a teller is a lowly role for me, and i only make 15.25 an hour, but I was a NEET for a while (took a break from school, its a long story) but I've come a long way, I took this job to get my foot in the door and made that clear in my interview and I think they respected me for it, i told them, "I want to start on the front lines, really see how the business works"

I know I could probably get a better position, but so much stuff is moving around, headquarters is coming and all the underwriting jobs are in Atlanta currently, id take 15xhr in charlotte over 20xhr atlanta ANY day of the week. So I just want to bide my time, survive this merger, and then try to get that awesome job down town in the heart of the city

I'd start talking to regional banks/credit unions before the merger completes and you get laid off, just in case. It's easier to start discussions with potential employers if you aren't in a position of unemployment.

You should move up already. Branches are literally the hiring farms. Are you retarded?
