In 2015 Emin Sirer and his team recieved 3 million US dollars as a grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) to research cryptocurrencies and Smart Contracts.

Emin Sirer is from Cornell University, and became part of the team that build Town Crier.

Town Crier got aqcuired by Chain.Link

NSF = Federal Institution, US Government:

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense..." NSF is vital because we support basic research and people to create knowledge that transforms the future.

With an annual budget of $8.1 billion (FY 2019), we are the funding source for approximately 24 percent of all federally supported basic research conducted by America's colleges and universities. In many fields such as mathematics, computer science and the social sciences, NSF is the major source of federal backing.

The more you dig, the more I feel like some big corporations looked into using smart contracts pre-2016, then discovered they needed an oracle, looked for the guy that was working on it at the time, and could only find Sergey with SmartContract.com.

They called the Serg, and they sat together and pondered: How can we make this enterprise-grade and secure? And Sergey who was already pondering on this question, said: we need a decentralized network. So they said: Let´s do an ICO for oracles, VC investors (Us) will buy up 90%, share some tokens with some neets to inspire them to run nodes, and lets get this rolling.

Wait, Serg, how do we make this also private-optional? Serg: we need TEE nodes. Big Boys: Lets call Cornell, Ari Juels works there, best mind in computer science, give him some grants and get that rolling too. Oh, by the way, co-write the WP with Ari, okay, you will be "purchasing" his project later on. wink wink...

God I fucking love this /biz/ and 4chan at large so much. I don't have that much of a connection to my IRL friends, but I feel like I can always come here for some exciting discussions about interesting topics. I'm slowly getting /fit/, reading more books and working my way towards financial freedom (thanks LINK shills). 4chan has unironically made my life better.

Yes, I feel similarly, although I wouldn't say buying Chainlink is the only way browsing 4chan has benefited me. For instance, /sig/ threads on /fit/ have really helped me become a better person in a lot of ways, think motivation, meditation, nutrition, etc. Even though I'm a linklet, I have good faith that I will still make it, and it's all thanks to /biz/.

That's great Anon! I wish you all the best! It's so funny to me that people always go on about how fucking toxic the mentality of many posters here is. They don't realize that many of the people that come here often aren't really doing that well in their personal lives and just need to vent, or someone that'll listen to them and can relate to their struggles. Pic related is a good example of the comradery that is beneath the vitriolic surface that many people that take 4chan at face value never get to see.

>decentralized
that is the problem, sergey and chainlink still havent invented the needed problemsolver that makes centralization obsolete, which they use right now instead of decentralized because they cant fucking make the system work if its decentralized.
