As someone who got absolutely BTFO this year with options, don't. I wish I put all money into LINK instead.

Don't forget, first one's always on the house. That's how you get hooked and think it's easy.

If you would've loaded up on SPY calls every time Trump announced tariffs over his term you'd have made a shitload of money. You still have to contend with the vega but its been a good strategy.

A lot of stupid people think we are due for another GFC and you can prey on those fears every time the market dips for any reason, but the Trump tariffs really are the best opportunities.

I am seriously thinking of buying long term SPY puts. Tell me why it's a bad idea.

I would wait for a little stability since you'd just be buying them to unload them at the next big dip. Again with regards the vega, let it work for you and not against you. Just dont let theta devour you before you get your chance to strike.

Wait a month, maybe two. At least let the cunt get back to $300.

Sell them.

I know you're a zoomer who's only lived through one economic slowdown, but periods of slow growth are fine. They are healthy even.

What happened ten years ago really stands out.

I got approved to trade options on robinhood but I can't figure out what the fuck is what

if you have to ask here, you don't. You'd be better off getting your money in cash, setting it on fire, and throwing it in the toilet. Would be more entertaining, too.

What if you do a lot of research? Its like very educated gambling right?

>> No.15200719

Research is a good idea. Start now. Don't put any real money in for a year, but make fake investments and track your progress.

Options is the big boys table. Again, if you're asking here, you're not ready.

Options are fucked. I wanted to short Beyond The Meat, but the only option on Robin Hood was breaking even if it did a -30%. Or I could have put up near $5000 for only -10% to break even. Fuck off, clearly only viable for insider trading.

Calls-
Are like betting on the price going up you want the stock price to hit the breakeven, though most will tell you to sell at any gained profit (~ +1-5% gains per trade)

I've been fucking with month or longer options on gold and doing well so far.

With calls you have to buy "time" or theta till the contract expires, that's some of the value. Look at the Greeks and research thier ways

Puts-
Betting on the price to go down or volatility to spike, similar to calls with time factors also depleting your contracts worth.

Then there's the world of spreads,
You will do best with safe spreads made with 100$ put credit spreads. You get paid up front and it gains in value with theta instead of against it.

And always do the opposite of what you think is going to happen,
Easy mode, wait for a good spike and buy a put when you see the green dildo form a large red one next to it

>> No.15202054

>>15200754
Look into put credit options on the.
With these you can safely option and afford almost any stock.

Stick to crypto. Buy 50K Zuckbucks. Wait for the moon. Set a sell target, sell, move on, do it again. If you pick the right cryptos, it literally is that easy, and you're talking 300-1,000% gains per quarter instead of 2%.

>>15200268
Don't short the stock market. With money printing the prices will go up in a negative environment.

If anything, go long precious metals.

Read a lot of books and don't get caught up with always trying to swing trade options, because you will get burned. But if you can make just a few trades a month absolute max, you'll be doing ok. That being said, writing covered calls and credit spreads seem to be the way to go from what smg says.
