It's the actual Transaction Hash. I just shorten it in the view since taking the first 12 characters will still be unique and the original value is preserved

I remember that Ark.io (which itself is in Javascript) supports web socket connection right from the browser. OP, I think you could look into it sometime. It's little known but perhaps could be of some use too.

It's pretty old (2016) and with active devs/news, is listed on Binance and based on JS. But that's all I can say, I don't know how suitable it is in practice.

I'm very intrigued by a blockchain based off of JS? Is it node or something similar?
