Is it a good investment to take a couple of years off to chase my dream?
I've recently finished college and crypto has put me in a place where I can sustain myself for a few years without having to work.
I've always thought about going pro at an esports game. I'm already decent, with little practice, I think if I put my mind to it I could make a name for myself within a year or so.
Would it be a good investment to just try this for a year and forget about it if it doesn't work out? Keep in mind if I succeed and land a spot on a top tier team I'd be making upwards of $200k / year excluding prize money.

Employers don’t give a shit. Tell them you were independent contracting. I have a job that pays 115k and they didn’t follow up on references or anything. They don’t care so long as you’re not a dumbass in the interview.

Stream and invest in shoutouts. Get out there make streaming you hobby and life with money behind you. You will be good. Shift to Mixer. Becuase ninja announced he’s with them and there streaming is way better than Twitch and everybody else they have literally billions behind them becuase they are owned by Windows. Huge market now becuase they don’t have too much big streamers on there. What game exactly do you play.

Streaming is very saturated, some already established pros hardly get a couple of hundred viewers, but I guess I could do it since it doesn't really have a negative impact.

Elaborate on the shoutouts? But yeah, you're right, if I were to also stream I'd definitely consider doing it on Mixer. I think they have a bright future ahead of them whereas Twitch is on its last leg if they don't get their shit together.
I'm playing CS:GO, so not exactly a very entertaining game for viewers, but I've played it since childhood and have a good understanding of it. I'd be able to shift to another FPS if one that catches my interest comes along.

everyone should chase their dreams, regardless of their financial situation. its what im doing and I still have to work and dont have a lot of money but money is not what matters in this life! i am training to become a professional mma fighter and its hard work but i am happy. either choose to live your life the way you want working towards mastery of your own passion and be happy or work chasing money backed by nothing and printed out of thin air because [)they(] brainwashed you into thinking this is how to live your life!

Financial freedom is nice but the longer you go without structure in life the less you will appreciate free time and the less determined you will be. Speaking from experience
make sure to set hard but fair goals for yourself and keep to a schedule.

Damn, 2011. There wasn't a huge amount of money in esports back then. Nowadays it's a whole different story, especially if you have something to fall back on if you end up failing.
Great to see he went on to win a major, huge achievement.

The odds are not in your favor, but that does not mean it can't be done. In terms of time and missed income potential, it is probably a bad investment. If you're okay with throwing away time and money just for the experience and having tried, it may be worth it.
