Has anyone here become rich due to the stockmarket compound interest seems to make it worth investing?

Seems insane after a while, assuming you invest 100k and add 50k every year after that first one and had 10% returns every year you would have around $6,000,797~ in 26 years. Ignoring taxes and wage raises or a wife giving you money as well as dividends.

>10% returns every year

I think those gains are rare and/or extremely risky. The average seems to between 3% and 5% returns on safe investments.

>> No.15140833

Buy and hold spot trading of public stock indices will not make you rich. It is best viewed as a long-term alternative to a savings account (trading short term security for long term inflation protection). Trading derivatives in individual public companies can make you rich, but is far riskier. Ditto on buy-and-hold for private companies (requires accredited investor status and some level of financial connection, not feasible for average Joes).

I think the best investors get around 10-15% I mean THE BEST. Assuming you are a freak it is amazing though. A more conservative number is indeed still amazing.

In australia 50k is worth like 20k american. But I am assuming you are a little older in this figure and make the 50k after taxes and bills and the percentage is lower is this not reasonable?

It's hard to take that much a year here too so it'd probably be more possible in peoples 30's as they have paid their uni debt/gotten a career. I am a neet but investing looks promising. I was a bit unrealistic too. Isn't that for socialized healthcare and schooling how do you feel about that would you rather lower the taxes and have schools/healthcare be more expensive?

>> No.15141062

>>15140917
well the biggest part of our taxation doesnt really go to our public assets of education/healthcare/transport, but 25% of all taxes go to pay the pensions of a system where the last generation didnt breed enough children to make up to the baby boomer generation which was huge in population count, meaning my taxes from work will never go to MY pension since the system will be taken down before I turn 65 or 85 depending on how many times they raise the retirement age.

So basically I am paying 20% of my wage for nothing, like literally nothing, because govt issued pension will not exist in 30 years.

But I am fine with paying high taxes otherwise, it is necessary to literally keep us at the top of the world in everything.

But I am starting to grow angry at the leftist scum that has started to accept immigrants and refugees,
which to me and most of the nation are an ideological problem, all males above the age of 12 are required to fight for their country, that is the finnish wartime law, and thus anyone who refuses to fight that war is a deserter, even women have to help., and thus I would see all female refugees sent back, and the male refugees shot for abandoning their country in its hour of need.

And we have mandatory conscription for males and its more than likely that it will happen to women as well in the next 6 years.

So there are cons in every country, atleast we dont have that many niggers here. the way I would promote finland is "we love tourists but hate immigrants everywhere else but our neighbouring countries"

I did the math at 5% assuming all else in op. You would be a millionare at 14 years. I know that seems like a lot of time for so little but it is better than nothing in my opinion. Does this sound reasonable or do you see a fault to my thinking?

well its 6/9/12 months, and it doesnt matter what you say about how long you wanna spend there, you get appoint to the place you will be seen as most useful in, but you can influence this a little bit, like as in the general direction you could specialize in.

And equality all the way, if men have to "waste" 1 year, then so do women.

There is an option to take the civil service which is basically a job for a year that you dont get pay for, but you get benefits, and your rent/living expenses are paid for.

And you can continue on that job afterwards with pay.

But overall, army is a place for young people to grow up, mainly if they have never had strict parents, well they will grow a bunch in there, but the training is "shit" as in the main training is conducted by the last years privates who have just been training as officers for 4 months, and imo that isnt enough to constitute them to be the ones in charge of training new privates.

I went to the military for the basic training course(1-2months), and left before the specialization because of health reasons and that I wanted most out of the system via getting basically a guaranteed job after civil service, and I got those 2 months out of the 1 year required to do the civil service, so I guess its nice.

And the main reason why I left the army was that I went there 4 years late, because of studying, meaning all the officers were younger than me and after 2 weeks calling them "sir" was starting to get fucking annoying.

you can get the C-papers, its basically "unfit for service during peace", but you will be more than likely drafted to work in the factories if there is a war.

Then there are T-papers, which are "a danger to himself or to others" and its instant freed from service until end of time, you wont get markings on your profile that would matter in getting a job, only hidden data about you will have that.

And there there is the absolute madman/alpha way, just say nah fuck it I aint doing that slavery shit, and then you get 1 year prison sentence which can be handled either way, you go to a prison which is basically a 5 star hotel where you can get your own things delivered to you from home, or you can just be leg tagged for a year and you will be visited weekly by some overseer, and you cant drink/consume drugs during this period.

Oh and to make it clear, those who go the military will also have their rent paid, and the more they spend in military the more daily moneys they get, but its like from 6€ to 12€ increasing with each 3 month mark after 6 months, and the army is basically on weekdays and most weekends you are free to go to home, kinda like school

well I liked it, my civil service is starting on the first quarter of next year, and I got everything that I needed from the military, basic army training which encompasses a lot, liked it, but too many cons for me to endure especially with slow healthcare with normal issues in the military, its like they have 2 doctors for 3000 personnel

You forgot to consider capital gains tax in your calculations. In Australia you will have to pay probably 37.5% (depends on your income, possibly 45%) on your dividends so you aren't going to grow 10%. Then on-top of that you will need pay tax on the gains from selling the shares at the end of the 26 years. So the real amount is much less.

Still worthwhile investing though, anyone who keeps their money in the bank is a schmuck

>> No.15141686

After you consider inflation, taxes, and a more realistic rate of return, you'll realize reasonable investing is only useful to protect and preserve wealth, not to create it.

If you want to create wealth you'll have to undertake risks others are not normally willing to take.

I don't know too much about investing. I assume this is on dividends? I was going off of stock value increasing no mention of the dividends. (excuse me if I am wrong).

>> No.15141870

>>15141745
Yes dividends, but that is a big component of the yearly share return (at least in Australia). 10% on share price alone is major bull territory and isn't realistic long-term

You will have to pay tax on the sale of the shares as well which will be huge (45% if you cash out in one go)
