They exist on a different plane. They don't even really associate with poor people. When you're that rich pretty much everyone you know is so wealthy money is no object, and that really changes the kind of value having money brings to the table and the way you perceive having money in terms of your self worth and how you compare yourself to others. You very quickly realize how little money actually means in terms of fulfillment.

Social pressure requires them to act humble. This is why they must say their success was due to hard work and "following their passion" so it seems a little more accessible to the working class watching them on TV.

I definitely agree. Also, many people that come into wealth very quickly will hire therapists that specialize in helping patients process it and get back to equilibrium.

Also, as an earlier anon mentioned, at a certain point I think many of these billionaires actually can come to realize that money is just money. You still have your family & spouse challenges, jealous friends, sycophants, etc. and relationships and contribution (not possessions) are the only thing where your efforts and agency matter as far as your happiness/fulfillment is concerned.
