This guy is fairly right op. The point is to have enough free time you can start to expand in ways that most people cant because they are locked into the rat race. If drugs are your thing then you will have time to take those and recover fully, if you think nature holds the keys you will have time to go practice surviving in nature, if you like meditation and deep thinking you will have the time to just think uninterrupted, if you like building things you will be able to build what you want, there are about a billion things you could be doing that will allow you and the world around you to grow more then if you were flipping burgers or filling out spreadsheets.

On a related note, people who are enlightened and have enlightened ways of thinking are those who are able to find how to multiply their effect on the world most efficently wether they are flipping burgers or feeding the poor, not to say your local mcdonalds bhuddist pothead is enlightened, but rather if he is able to find the meanings in life and humanity it would not matter wether he works at McDonald's or is a billionare, although both seem unlikely.
