I work nights at an office building. The security guard makes patrols around the building, he has some RFID thing he has to scan in some areas so he can't just sit around doing nothing. Also there's a supervisor that patrols in a car from building to building to make sure they're doing their jobs. Still, it does look pretty comfy. You can just listen to podcasts and shit and walk about a silent office building at night.

It's quite chill job, my friend does it. 12h shifts at night, week job week off. Here it's mostly driving around, locking shopping mall doors etc. He says he just talks crap most of the night with a co-worker and the employees / police etc. I would probably go insane as I do not really tolerate talking just for time waste.

Basically this. It's long stretches of extreme boredom finding innovative new ways to kill time while praying nothing happens that will make you do real work.

Security wagie here. I spend all my time lifting weights and shitposting on an Afghan Hat Knitting forum every night while sinking all my spare cash into crypto. I honestly can't believe they pay me for this.

>> No.14930615

Also there are two basic kinds of post. The first one is where you are bored out of your mind and the client doesn't respect you or know why you're there. The second kind is where things are happening constantly and it's very high stress and eventually some perfect storm will fuck you over majorly.

>> No.14930655

Who do you guys work for? Securitas is hiring in my area but I've heard they're shit.

>> No.14930689

Security is mostly fine and easy work. But every now and then you get one of those days where a drunk or junked druggie gets difficult and glass you without warning. I imagine corporate sec is great though. Mall/street/festival/etc sec which I work in is like 90% relaxed and 10% shitfest when some faggot starts shit.

One of my coworkers just got hired by them for more than he gets payed now and my employer won't match. I've heard some bad things too, but it's a huge company. It probably depends a lot on what contract you're on, not to mention what country you're in.

>> No.14930721

Nokas here. Big in scandiland but no idea if they're big elsewhere.
Terrible company and I wouldn't recommend anyone working for them. Great colleagues though, but extremely shitty higher leadership

I work at a halfway house. Worst part of the job is piss testing the clients. 99.9% of the time I'm sitting on my ass reading, shitposting or watching movies. Just apply to Securitas. What stopped me years ago was that they charge you for training and the uniform.

>> No.14930811

>>14930700
My more experienced colleagues just blatantly say that if a customer wants quality, he'll use securitas, if he wants cheap, he'll use nokas, and it shows. Nokas is the absolute biggest penny pinchers I've ever worked for. I'm a team leader, and like 99/100 operations, I lack manpower (and actually trained and motivated at that), equipment, transport, predictability to have a life outside work, lots of employee laws getting broke (last week I pulled over 100 hours due poorly planned vacations, illness, lazy faggots not wanting to give a little) all the time. And the pays pretty shit compared to the work.
Once this contract is up, I'll go back to salmon raising or the army, where my work satisfaction was hundreds of times higher.

lol sounds pretty much like my employer which will remain nameless since it's a small business.

I used to work security. There are some sites that suck, and some that are pretty awesome. The gated community was pretty cool. Lots of high profile residents that would order us pizza, and talk to us for a little bit. Also the private hotel I worked at was a pretty good gig. Free lunch and dinner, and it was actually good food. Basically skimmed the web all night, and occasionally something would pop off like a fire pre alarm, but most nights were pretty easy.

It really just depends on the site. Working at a grocery store or warehouse isn't nearly as awesome as an upscale office building, hotel, or gated neighborhood.

Grocery stores are the worst. Some asshole is always sleeping in the lobby or shoving tide pods down his pants.

>he has some RFID thing he has to scan in some areas so he can't just sit around doing nothing.
A friend I have that used to work a night shift (not security, maintenance) at a small airport somewhere had a similar problem. He just took all the detectors (they worked with battery) and put them in a table and every half an hour passed his "tag" in front of all of them at once. Then put the detectors in their place again at the end of the shift. He staid in a small office drinking coffee and watching TV all the night. He did this for a very long time until they removed that system.

If you're in the US, Allied Universal and G4S are two of the better ones, (if you can get on board with them.) Securitas is pretty shit, but there are much worse companies out there too. This industry is full of incompetent retards. Different contracts have different pay rates and bennies for their guards, so it's more about getting hired at the right time than which company is the best.

Security wagie in US here. Easiest fucking job for anons, hands down. If you can find a smaller company or a small business to work for instead of one of the big guys you will make more money. The larger security firms will hire anyone but you'll get paid shit and be put on shit post as well.

No the company usually gives you a site that is close to your residence, at least that's what they did for me. I work in a quiet jewish neighborhood. Sometimes you get the occasional drunk mestizo slave trying to use the bathroom in the lobby but they aren't a problem. For me I use that opportunity to work on my boxing skills. It's like hitting a heavy bag lol.

you go to a security guard school
they will offer you an 8 hour class and 16 hour class
you need both in order to receive your license in the mail.
The place I go to some old jewish guy just types some shit onto a comp and prints you your certificate, it's so fucking kek.
