This is the reason why many of us invested in cryptocurrency. To gain large amounts of capital in the shortest time frame so that we can cash out and invest in dividend stocks.

You need at least 1-2 million $ to have a decent passive income from dividend stocks.
If you invested in Index funds, or regular stocks, and sold of 3-5% a year, you could probably afford the same standard of living with half the initial capital.

I am not disputing the 5% dividends, i am disputing that you equate it to 5% annual ROI - probably more since the stocks itself will increase in value 1-2% a year.

The dividends are payed out from the profit of the company, if it pays 5% - then it is 5% of the profit that is shared among the stock holders..

Google it and read the wikipedia page on how dividend paying stocks works..

with 120k you could make $600 per month with current yields

>> No.14926630

Leaf here. We have a tax free account here where our contribution is capped but the amount we make in the account is practically unlimited. I was thinking of doing dividends but I though it might be better to go index right now since I only have 40k in capital (I contribute 30k yearly so I'd have 70k principal next year). Im thinking there will probably be a technical recession next year so I've held off jumping in. Should I put that money in dividends for now? I'm worried about liquidity if the market does shift and I want to move money. Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm a novice in finance.

You are a moron. Ford motors costs $10.02 right now. They pay 60 cents a year in dividends. That is a 5.99% yield on the cost of the stock.

I don't know what shithole you live in.
