Let's compare it to the PS4, the most popular consoles. The PS4 is 250+60 a year, the stadia is half the price not including online and less than a quarter including 5 years of it (the basic streaming is literally free). Convenience wise stadia wins by a mile, games wise they both get all the mainstream ones, multiplayer games are by far most popular on both so needing the internet isn't an issue. Performance wise the stadias likely shit but how is that different to the PS4?

Why the fuck would you buy the PS4/Xbox one instead? Literally no reason, I swear it's going to be huge.

I unironically want to try the same thing from Shadow (just google shadow gaming if you're curious)
Everything else looks like it's still in beta or just looks not good. Shadow can stream at 50 Mbps which is better than most of the rest. From what I've watched and read, the latency is pretty minor and only matters if you're a competitivefag that gets 1ms monitors and meme mouses which isn't me. I hate using Windows and use Linux as much as I can but I need vidya and it seems like a decent compromise. $300/year isn't terrible for a high-end gaming PC I don't think. I haven't actually been able to try it yet though because it isn't available in Florida.

Can I also just reiterate this is literally free after you've bought the $100 controller/TV adaptor, whereas the PS4/Xbox are more than double the price and you have to pay 60 a year to even use them.

I don't know what this is but I do know as a casual gamer that games haven't been gotten respiece demanding enough for me to upgrade my pc in 6 years and I'm still happy with my xbox360 if I want to shoot at something. Doesn't feel like things have changed enough for me to bother spending 1 grand on a new rig, new controllers, and games which will inevitably be rolled out with the new age half-finished DLC model.

You're making the wrong comparison. Google isn't trying to compete with the PS4, they're trying to compete with the Switch. The combination of technical limitations and cheap pricing makes "really casual gamers" the obvious target demo. Nintendo already has that market cornered, because they figured out what they actually want - "friendly" devices and raw fun-factor. Google is just not offering enough of what those people really want to claim any substantial chunk of that market-share.

Pitching an early-adopter-stage technology like Cloud Gaming directly to the casual segment of the market just doesn't make any sense at all.
