can someone pls explain to a complete brainlet, why whales dont buy a coin on leverage, set a high sell order and afterwards market buy that coin until the own sell order passed, and then just sell the second amount for the current market price?

On a different brainlet question, how is leverage even a thing? Where the fuck do exchanges get the money to pay for 20x leverages?

I will say its not just in the purview of whales though, I made my money similarly. I would get two screens (each eith dedicated keyboard for speed) and set up my buys on one and my margin trade on the other.

I'd hit a x100 leveraged long at the exact same moment as market buying as much btc as i could. I'd then take the 0.01% increase and immediately close my position.

Doing this i built up my stack that now when i do it i make moves so large i work in octaves so as not to disturb the market. I set my longs at 1000x then market buy the circulating supply to bring the value up and back around to exactly where it was, thus exponentially increasing my holdings each time and at most astute traders might notice a frameskip.

>set a high sell order
possible, however the reality is on any exchange with decent volume, random sellers will destroy your ability to "walk the price up"
Much better to do this with 5% spreads

that's scary as fuck. what if an exchange has a trading account that discovers your activity and decides to fuck with you the next time your trade like that.

Are there any laws against this, maybe not in crypto but at least in stocks? I have no plans of doing it myself, but I am curious.
