If they adjusted the amount they were selling based on the price.. because it is fucking retarded for them to drive the price lower and lower, the price drops approximately 30 cents between each sell off. If they reduced the amount of tokens they were dropping the lower the price came, then they could earn the same amount with selling less.
The only reason why the price of Chainlink is dropping so much compared to other alt-coins, is because the developers are dumping such large quantities unto the market, there is simply not enough buyers to absorb these sell orders.
