Reality: there are no good traders.
Every bull or bear trend has its good public traders that "predicted" it, and they make money as long as the price continues to go up/down, which rescues their underwater positions.
Once the trend (which can be called that only in hindsight) reverses, they start to lose more and more money, until eventually they give a wrong call so many times people forget about them and flip to new "good" traders.

Another point: most traders on twitter delete their old posts if they were wrong, so when they manage to be consistently right for several times and get new followers, they have no idea how many times they were wrong in the past.
