How can I start my own porn company?

Let's start by saying I hire an escort and get a guy to perform as I film. Whats next? Contracts? Maybe like a videoed agreement to release? Make a website (considering I have a model/theme to attract my own audience)? Move to California?

Former shooter here, I worked in the industry for 8 years total.

You need to line up the contacts first. The strange company once known as "Manwin" owns practically everything and buys only a small amount of their own material (they own about 70% of the tube traffic too).

The business changes really, really fast. When I first got into it, traffic was everything. Then spam. Then content and single girl sites.

It's easier to get your foot in the door if you have content that's somewhat rare or at least has a concept going for it. "I shoot MILFs because I have a 30ish whore in my one film" is not really that attractive. Femdom, fetish, etc. always seemed to sell, probably because you sort of have to be into the kink to shoot it well (I never was and never could).

But yeah, like any other business in which you are a producer of a product, it is infinitely easier if you have your sellers lined up or at least an idea of who they are. There are webmaster conferences and the like held throughout the year. Go to them.

There are also websites where actual people in the business congregate. The problem is that they're very clique-y and which one is the "good" one can change instantly. When I was in the business, a site which is blocked here, called go fuck yourself and then a dot com at the end, was the one, but it was several years ago and it might just be timewasters on there now.

Most website subs are sold through affiliates. The actual producers are a very tiny portion of the industry -- there are loads and loads of random coders around the world that fuck with black hat SEO and other shit to boost their conversions. The payouts were actually really high -- usually 2x to 3x the monthly membership rate. The person selling it might never even contemplate shooting his own content at all.

This information is several years old, so make of it what you will. But the whole infrastructure is a lot more diversified than just a bunch of guys shooting the shit and selling it.

I don't really see you making a profit filming your own stuff. You have to be able to market it and sell it.

You'd probably be better running an upload based tube site. Most porn sites look 10 years out of date. They don't track likes, they don't use machine learning based recommendations, uploads disappear all the time.

Of course, US regulations might keep you from being any better. But the internet could really benefit from a modern porn website.
