It may not be a realized loss, but it's still a loss of available capital.
If you were to total your liquid assets, they'd be lower by whatever amount your losses are.
Also, anything based on that position (margin, for example, or any other kind of credit) will be similarly reduced. Your need for that kind of shit may be non existent, but still.

Unfortunately, realized/unrealized losses don't work the same way for me, but that's only because I gave up the distinction in exchange for other advantages.

there will be a push up, over 50, and when that happens, look for a place to sell your position. then, position yourself in DWTI as UWTI falls. sell at the peak and get into some preferreds in oil that pay out 6% dividends
