I actually think that we should develop our own source code for a coin.

The main problem with bitcoin and its code is that it itself has spawned all these competitor and scam coins.

can someone explain to me the anatomy of a pump and dump?

an inner group launches a coin and buys a huge stake of it, then they go around social media and hype it up to get more people to buy into it. When it reaches a certain value, the inner group sells it all off (effectively taking the money from the other buyers) and the value basically drops to nothing?

I am no expert and this is just my complete guess.
This is a chart for wolong Panda on cryptorush. They didn't have this kind of chart before feb 14th so part of it is missing. I think I remember it mostly looking like this.
If you mean a pump and dump based off a premine I think it would mostly relate to this.
One where someone just hypes a coin would have them buying in a lot at a lower price a day earlier and then slowly pumping and hyping, so that even a small increase will give them profits.
Anyways, here is how I see it.
This is assuming that the preminers have a price they are planning on dumping at or around. I know this coin is a bit different because of all of the drama but I think it could have loosely been the plan from the start anyways.
1) They hyped the coin so they try to unload as much as they can right away at a high price.
2) Big buy orders and fake buy walls at the low price after the crash mixed with the hype make it skyrocket
3) They slowly dump during the rise and then do a big dump at the peak
4) After trading between themselves to simulate volume and make it look like it's crashing even harder, they start to buy in again. This is where I got in. I remember it was so methodical the way the pumped it I kind of think they use bots. Slowly going from satoshi to satoshi buying out the walls and placing huge buy walls to restore confidence.
5) Eventually fake walls + hype sets in and they do a fake dump
6) They get as many as the people panic selling low as they can, and then those same people buy back against what they just sold.
7) More dump
8) Slowly dumping
9) Even though wolong crashed the price I think this would have happened anyways (just not as much). Dump some more
10) dumping to any other whales trying to raise the price (this goes until today). Keep the price low and buy in some more at 1-4 satoshi.
11) Repeat from 1
Again, this is just how I see & not the best premine PnD example because of that huge dump to 1 satoshi.
