I'm guessing 1.13 is how many USD you get for 1 euro but what does the 1000 mean and how much does it cost to buy 1000? And what does the 2,184 mean and how much would it cost to buy 1000 of this?

>> No.1461396

>>1461384
for the spx500 listed there is would cost $2,185.38 to buy one share, and if you already had one share to sell, it would go for $2,184.88.
Forex is different in that you generally have to buy in lots of 10000 at a time and that is usually on margin and could cost about $226(per 10000 lot),

So it would cost me $226 to buy 10,000 "amount" of EUR | USD? What does an "amount" actually represent?

>> No.1461412

>>1461402
$10,000 in dollars, if your platform has you funded in dollars.
if the price goes up to 1.1406 from 1.1306 and you had one lot of 10000, your profit would be $100.
The tricky part is what is your account size? if it is $1,000 total, and the price went down from 1.1306 to 1.0706 your broker would auto sell your position and you would loose your $1,000. In fact they would probably liquidate sooner but you get the point.

So it costs $226 to buy $10,000? I'm sorry but I don't exactly follow. Also I'm using the program in GBP with a practice account of £50,000. I already made £4000 by investing 10,000,000 into EUR | USD lol.

>> No.1461434

>>1461427
i would just be careful with how much you play with, because if you made £4000 so "quickly" with investing 10,000,000, it could also easily go the other direction, and if you don't use stops of some sort your account could get wiped out, even with £50000.

Yes this is just for seeing how I do with practice money. I still don't get the whole "amount" thing, are there any guides online that explains what it at all means?
