which will increase decentralization and banishes ASICs from the network forever, while also keeping mining more egalitarian
>the cutting edge of development and privacy in the crypto space
>stealth addresses, ring signatures and confidential transactions
>private by default
>code has be audited and reworked endlessly by the third highest developer count of all cryptocurrencies, only behind BTC and ETH
>devs fully funded by the community

Monero is literally the closest thing to cash we can get when it comes to crypto
>>but muh government will ban it
they said the same about bitcoin in the early days
>>but what about zcash?
Zcash has many problems, they have talked about implementing back doors for governments(literally wtf), have a dev tax, trusted setup is massive issue, not being private by default makes all private transactions essentially useless through analysis heuristics,

It is slow and will never scale. Bitcoin + CoinJoin is good enough for darknet/ransomware/etc. so Monero will never be adopted.

That's the scenario I'm envisioning. High net worth individuals, criminals, and government spy agencies will all have a need to use Monero because all other financial avenues will be heavily monitored.

it's probably that asic miner from last winter who dumps.

>> No.14571186

It's all an strategy to dump XMR. XMR doesnt have selling pressure as other coin since its asic resistant. Then, whales sell the whole year. Now they make a final dump to shake weak hands. Now they wait a moment of low selling pressure, high volatility and pump like hell

>> No.14571477

The BTC network dwarfs XMR so cracking down on XMR is actually easier, they just flood the network with their own spyware nodes.

I feel like Monero is in a good position to steal the show during the next crypto bull.

>Crypto finally just beginning to leak into public consciousness as something more than "that ponzi scam that made NEETs rich in 2017"
>Global economy edging closer and closer towards a happening
>Wealth continuing to concentrate in the hands of fewer and fewer hyperrich people
>Sentiment growing for socialism as a solution to the weath concentrating effect of capitalism, along with gibs programs like UBI
>Could be a time in the near future where world government turn on the hyperrich and demand they redistribute their money to the masses via wealth taxes
>Monero is basically a cayman islands account 2.0
>Worlds billionaires all start to FOMO into Monero as a convenient government-resistant money laundering and opaque wealth storage vehicle
>Within a short span of time, hundreds of billions of dollars of value are flowing into XMR all trying to hide from the global socialist uprising
>Bloomberg report ends up looking like FUD in retrospect

I've only got a small bag, 40 XMR, as I think that's all anyone will really need if reality meets the kinds of expectations I have for it. It's definitely an unlikely scenario but definitely more likely than million dollar buttcorns or LINK $1000 EOY.

Once bitcoin implements schnorr then the batching efficiency goes up and eventually start to see every wallet start integrating coinjoin directly. Sure its not base protocol privacy but practically speaking its still pretty damn good

I've been wondering if this might be just enough in practice to make not having base protocol privacy a non-issue.

If it is, I hate to say it but looks very bearish for XMR

>> No.14571925

I only hold one coin besides bitcoin, XMR. Its the hedge against BTC not being fungible enough. Only like a 7% allocation, well now probably like 5%.

Those days are ending. The United States already clamped down on Switzerland. They are doing it slowly so that their jewish friends can avoid the crackdowns but soon enough there will be few or no jurisdictions for this kind of activity. All roads lead to blockchain. Xmr will be valued once central coins like libra will launch, for now normies aren't doing research, just dreaming about btc, it's an easy 500 $ coin especially with the anti ASIC update coming. The audit report is favourable.

I'll let the late night shitposters in a little secret, buying xmr in cash is the best way to increase your stack for cheaper. Go on localmonero, craigslist, druggie .onion forums and advertise that you buy xmr for cash. Do the transaction in a police station, demand a 20% cheaper price than it's on the market... I set a minimum and maximum purchase price. Surprisingly few people say no to those demands.

Monero is much more popular than people think because it's legitimately being used.

I've only ever used a crypto ATM for BTC before (funnily enough, for a shitposting pass).
How quickly will I be able to verify that I'll get my XMR. Hand over the cash after?
Also, could you recommend a wallet/exchange? I've been using breadwallet.
