I have inherited a Motorcycle dealership... I have no idea on how to properly manage the finances of the business, am struggling to cut costs. We are able to turn a decent profit, but how the hell can I learn how to make it grow?

Top laugh
Your best bet is to sell it to someone who knows wtf they are doing, or at the very least, hire a competent manager and start delegating shit
The worst thing you could do is start micromanaging

It's a third world country. Most people go around in motorcycles, I understand the business inside out and I do have managers to help me out, my problem is cutting costs.

This thread is what /biz/ should be. OP, I have no idea how to run a business, but maybe we can think of something. Do you sell only motorcycles or do you sell parts as well? Do you offer services? I take you have suppliers too?

Get off of biz, anon. You will find no real business help here. But I'll try anyway. You really want increased revenue. Get your sales up. make each customer more valuable to you via promotions etc. Whatever you do, don't reduce commissions or employee pay. This is a short term play that will bury your business. Any costs you cut should come from squeezing suppliers, lease, etc.

I agree this is what /biz should be, but its overrun with shills and shitposters.

This is what I was thinking too. If I were him, first thing I'd try to get better deals from suppliers.

let's start small
do you use LEDs for outdoor display lighting?
What's your showroom like?
In addition to selling, do you make repairs?
What's your staff roster like? Big or small?
Do you have a dealer services company that manages your needs for office supplies? Your spare parts needs?

Take a seat OP.

Please provide the following information so I can better assess your high level financials: Revenue, Expenses, COGS, Cashflow, AR, AP.

On growth: Saying I want to grow this bigger is not a sufficient answer. You need to set clear metrics around YOY, MOM growth metrics and track it. So let me ask you again, What is your growth goal?

won't work. no concept of time in these places, usually. The individual makes a way for himself and doesn't enjoy the idea of a power structure. People like these need plenty of incentive before they even begin to do half a decent job

That's an issue. We are a Honda dealership, whilst I have 86% market share in my area, in order to have the rights to the brand I must pay them what they ask most of the times. The only section I can really get some discount from suppliers is Helmets and equipments.

Sell it to some boomer expat for triple it's value, it'll seem cheap to him because it is compared to in the first world. Then buy a business you know and can run competently.

Why do you need to cut costs? Wouldn't it be a better use of your time to focus on increasing sales?
Cutting costs is not necessarily a good way to increase your profits.
