>AAA bond rate
Moody's Seasoned Aaa Corporate Bond Yield

It's a way of adjusting various value investing rules for current levels of easy money.
Graham originally said that P/E = 9 is the cutoff between hype and sleeper. But he later corrected that to be P/E = 1/(2*AAA).

For example, for today that puts it at P/E = 15.38
i.e. below 15.38 the market hasn't noticed the company, above 15.38 the market overhypes the company.

>> No.14524679

Interesting...

>I'm biased towards these two:
Altria Group Inc. (MO):
P/E Ratio 14.56
Div & Yield 3.20 (6.47%)

Kohl's Corp. (KSS)
P/E Ratio 9.82
Div & Yield 2.68 (5.38%)

>I'm eyeing these:
Lam Research Corp. (LRCX):
P/E Ratio = 11.69
Div & Yield 4.40 (2.43%)

The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS):
P/E Ratio = 8.29
Div & Yield 3.40 (1.65%)

Caterpillar Inc. (CAT):
P/E Ratio 12.58
Div & Yield 4.12 (2.55%)

Viacom Inc. Class B (VIAB)
P/E Ratio 8.02

>This one is weird, some place don't have a P/E ratio for it and others do?
SoftBank Group Corp. (SFTBY)
PE Ratio (TTM) 6.81
Forward Dividend & Yield 0.20 (0.43%)

Apple Inc. (AAPL)
P/E Ratio 16.73
Div & Yield 3.08 (1.48%)
>;_; I'm such a retard for not just HODLing and DCAing down...

The Walt Disney Co. (DIS)
P/E Ratio 15.62
Div & Yield 1.76 (1.23%)
>EVERYONE says this one is over-valued, but it's very close to the number you used

If I'm looking for value, than for me, personally, I'm looking for yield. In theory, I would be looking for them to pay me to wait until their company is "fairly valued"
Also I fucking love DRiP, because of compounding, so I love a good yield.

How reliable is this predictor of Graham's? I assume it's just one of the criteria he uses for selection?

Every time Graham speaks he creates a new rule.
>P/E > 9, which he corrected to P/E > 1/(2*AAA)
>P/E < 40% of the maximum P/E of that stock in the last 5 years
>Div. Yield >0, which he later corrected to DY > 2/3 * AAA
>DY > 0 for last 5 years
>P/B < 1.2, which he later corrected to P/B < 2/3
>P/NCAV < 1, which he later corrected to P/NCAV < 2/3
>Current Ratio > 1.5, which he later corrected to CR > 2
>Total debt < book value
>Total debt < 2 * NCAV
>Total debt < 1.1 * Current Assets
>Minimum EPS in last 5 years > 0
>Latest EPS > EPS 5 years ago
>Earnings growth > 7% CAGR over last 10 years
>No more than 2 declines of 5% or greater in year-end earnings over prior 10 years
>NCAV must not be decreasing

>How reliable is he?
His mutual fund averaged about 15% per year.
In backtesting his ultimate work "Graham's Last Will", it reached 38%.

But interestingly, after it was published the number of US companies which meet the 10 last will rules dropped to 0.

>> No.14525280

>>14525182
That is interesting... it may indicate that enough people took him seriously that any company that actually met all those criteria would instantly be bought well above the P/E ratio he insisted on. Or that companies that met the requirements knew they would be able to increase their debt and still have investors clamoring to buy shares, etc.

When did he die and when was he active? Bogle seemed to indicate that there were no fund managers that managed to consistently outperform the market year after year.

I've said it multiple times, and I'll keep saying it, but there isn't really such a thing as 'all time lows' for inverse ETFs. they keep decaying towards 0$ permanently. So it might go up from where you are now, maybe, but you can be SURE that it sill at some point in the future be lower. 'All time low' for an inverse leveraged ETF is a non-sensical concept because they're always on the road down towards zero over time.

Forex account is up around 25% in the last week on a pure EUR/USD short. I don't keep too much in the account so it's not massive gains or anything, but a nice thing on the side.

Dollar strength and Euro weakness is just all this geopolitical stuff flying around. Things are lining up nice for a strong USD/EUR with China possibly coming to the table, and even lower rates in the EU likely.

Yeah, but more focused on a specific industry. I'm more than likely going to invest half of everything I put in into SPY like people just suggested, however I worry about putting all my money into broad economy funds. TD AmeriTrade can cover all of those as well plus many more products but the levels of approval might become a pain in the ass with them depending on your situation. I'd recommend Forex.com for basic currency trading. I actually went there because my old broker, FXCM, got banned from doing business in the US and Gain Capital purchased all of their user accounts. Depends, I've dca'd in and out of LMT, but not liquid enough because small account, so swing trading it hasn't worked nearly as well as just holding it
I've sold HON and GD to reinvest when I thought they were at "local" peaks, only to watch them rise for another month or two (or 10)
Holding forever no swing trades, no averaging in and out is something I've only done with BA (was almost up +200% in 2ish years at one point), which with hindsight is the only defense stock I really should have sold at a peak a while ago (those goddamn plane crashes...)

thats because they get subsidies from NVDA and Intel when they get small, its the only reason AMD lived past 2015
without AMD, monopoly banhammer comes down, so proping AMD up is cheaper than lobbists and monopoly costs/redtape/market share destruction
their markets are funny, since there is so little competition, that no one can ever do too bad (unless someone new appears...)

they did the same thing in the early 00's that they did in few years ago, got so small that their competitors boosted them up

Uihlein is a huge conservative donor. July 4th would be a particularly fitting day. Market will be closed but thats irrelevant if its a buyout.

They weren't sitting around for a year doing nothing. And the delays in announcing make sense if its all contingent upon an entirely new status quo.

We already know this isn't a house of cards so they aren't stringing people along. If anything they'd be doing a piss poor job of that with no trickling news.

The rights offering itself seems like a giveaway that they were trying to keep it fair by allowing people to maintain their proportional ownership while raising money. That is such a highly unusual move that the brokers barely knew what to do with it. They could have straight diluted it all if it was just about raising money. They did it in such a way that a near future buyout would have been fair to shareholders. No one will be able to say that Dick Uihlein and anyone else screwed people when they went about the process as fair as possible.

They've straight up admitted that they are being criticized for a lack of ability to go it alone. Who would be making that claim? Shareholders? Bullshit. Thats negotiations. That was the pretext behind why they had the rights offering. That weakness is now thoroughly gone as a dispute in pricing.

My best guess is they are told, with a soft agreement, to use their expertise and relationship with the FDA to write up an iron clad protocol. Do that, and then hand it off.

Uihlein himself is like a tangential indicator. Media reports will make him out to be a horror figure because he spends millions on several republican candidates during every election. He just put down a shitload of money not long before an election. He wants to render a ton of funds solid when his passion, and his wifes, is conservative politics? He knows it will be liquidated soon enough. And will fund his activities. And its always the most important election ever, every time.

Hold.

Not really... he doesn't feel like he has a choice because selling now will be:
A. selling at a loss
and B. Admitting to making a mistake

It's like saying the people who bought the top in crypto and have been forced to HODL for 2+ years are "patient". That Russian incident is interesting.

It was a smaller sub that has a mother (larger sub) with which it moves when its not deployed; it is a deeb sea sub that can go to 6000 meters (to telecom lines). The crew supposedly died to toxic poisoning from the fire, on their road to hospital/care. But the small sub made it back to its host and to the port if I understand translated Russian correctly, but the news said that 'submarine' had docked, but we can't really tell if the smaller sub (which had the fire) was with it; and that smaller sub or larger sub was filled to brim with high ranking officials. If there was a fire I'm sure Russians are interested who had serviced the submarine most recently.

Better lesson is:
Deploy money in controlled bursts. Tranches. You should be able to double your position when it dips a standard deviation.

You NEVER go all in. What if the market does what it did in November? You really want to have no money available?

its a REIT so 90% of its taxable income needs to be paid out in a dividend.

Although the dividend is safe now, if any of the headwinds come to fruition, it could be bad and force them to cut their divvy.

IRM is one of my few REITs that I have to increase my yield. i just plan on waiting and see. Won't invest new capital unless there is some increased positive cashflow in the future, but i'll reinvest the divvy

I took the risk knowing full well what it was. the only REIT i actually trust is Realty Income (O).

alright, thanks. i just put in a stop limit in case it drops a bit in the near future so that i still profit, but ill probably manually sell most of it in a few days as i think it will rise. but as it stands, it's too big a percentage of my total portfolio to be smart to hold on to long-term

I feel confident at this point saying that I turned the corner on understanding trading sometime in early May, my chart is a roller coaster, but the last six weeks each bottom has been higher than the one before it.
