Crypto's biggest downfall is that it does not benefit from compound interest. Your shitcoin sitting in a wallet (barring some sort of crypto-based banking system) will not produce more shitcoins.

A stock investment will benefit from compounding in two ways: the reinvestment of dividends and the reinvestment of cash by management. This creates a snowball effect which, given enough time, will lead to massive shareholder returns.
