Alright. This post is mainly aimed at UK lads.
It's sort of finance related, as I have to be resourceful. Think of this as a fun exercise in how you'd handle the situation in my shoes.

Basically, I want to move out as soon as humanly possible out of my parents' home. I've fucking had it with them and my pride can no longer take it.
I have £780 in the bank, with my only liquidable asset being my stationary PC (which I could sell within a week for approx £300 most likely).

Is it possible to move in somewhere within like 2-3 days? Obviously, I'm going to move somewhere cheap (£100-120/week), so maybe the landlord won't fuck around as much. I am currently not *officially* employed, but this is an industrial area and I can get a job within less than a week.

Any tips? Any advice?

Pretty much not possible. A few weeks maybe, if you get a job now. Are there rentals that cheap where you are? Where I am I'd have to live with other people at that price.

Haha, no. I live in a small city. I've looked at the rent prices. There are quite a few £100-120/w properties.

Sort the job first as it'll be a big barrier to someone renting you a place.

2-3 days probably isn't going to happen.

If you're old enough you can potentially apply for jobseekers and other benefits.

Sounds like you're being daft though, what exactly do they do that's so terrible (Besides pay for your living costs)?

I've never rent a place on my own here.
The question is: what does the whole process consist of usually?
If I can find at least one place in which the landlord rents it out directly and not through an agency, I could possibly use my silver tongue to negotiate and convince them.

And places here are rather cheap, as it's not a major city.

>Sounds like you're being daft though
I am. Emotions are running high. I'm committed to getting out of here ASAP, though.

Most properties in the UK are rented under an assured shorthold tenancy and require a deposit of 1-2 months rent. Also, if you go through an agency, you'll have to show proof of employment / receipt of benefits. Another option would be to find an informal lodging arrangement which no or a minimal deposit

Why would you commit to such a responsibility if you know your acting impulsively?
You need a job paying you first off to even have the confidence of moving out, £700 is nothing in the real world, think how quickly time goes in before you know you spent it all on rent and food. Then youll have to go back home where parents would probably say 'told you so' but now times moved on and your that much poorer. Think it out OP, maybe cook dinner or do the dishes sometime and they prob wont annoy you as much

Not from UK but here is my advice anyway..
>get more money
It is more expensive to move than you think at first. You will need at least a bed, a fridge and a way to cook meals. You will also need some wifi and some sort of transportation.
>get a steady income
You will have to pay bills. Not just rent. Everything you fucking do cost something.
>be realistic
If you are 23 with no job and a neet lifestyle in your mothers basement you have to know that you are way behind.
>this is an industrial area and I can get a job within less than a week
Then go get one and come back in a week. I hope it will be as easy for you as you think it will but i doubt that

What have you done in you life so far anon?

>It is more expensive to move than you think at first.
I am quite resourceful. Thank god for the facebook marketplace, though. The shit you can either get for free or for pennies is amazing. As for the internet - you can use mobile internet rather cheaply here. So that would be a start. I generally know the cost of utilities. I am not a naive teenager.

>If you are 23 with no job and a neet lifestyle in your mothers basement you have to know that you are way behind.
Not the case

>> No.14325715

OP, desu you sound like you're talking shit just to give yourself confidence (if you could get a job an "rise through the ranks" so easily, what's been stopping you so far?)

But as a landlord in the UK I can tell you that there are plenty out there who will give you a room ASAP on some kind of short term arrangement. Especially over the summer when, say, student tenants often want to leave early.

Look on gumtree and spareroom, that's about it.

But with your finances, maybe staying with your parents is better for now. Get a job first, move out on your first pay cheque (if you must).

Grow up, get a job so you can earn some capital with which to cover unexpected costs and emergencies (because there will be) and then you can move out. Now go do your chores and thank your parents for not kicking your dumb ass out already.

Not "officialy" being employed doesn't count. You still have no insurance and no securities. If someone decides to rent to you anyways they'll charge a premium to compensate for the risk of you not being able to pay

Definitely a bit of a nuisance, but I think it's a numbers game. About to ring up a bunch of places.
I assume that "desperate" landlords would be willing to let this slide. After all, they do receive the deposit, and uninhabited apartment is potential money wasted.
