ETH is the only coin with a future; BTC is garbage and effectively nothing is being done about it

you buy ETH for these reasons:
1) It's a superset of BTC
2) It's already better at what BTC does
3) It will be orders of magnitude faster than BTC if ETH 2.0 succeeds (and it's looking pretty fucking good right now)
4) POS > POW
5) Development inertia
6) You are buying "infrastructure"; every single real world application that will be built on Ethereum will drive the price up - even moon missions that you miss will have a positive effect on price
7) Staking inherently makes Ethereum a better store of value than BTC
8) Privacy is also in the development pipeline

This. People frequently call "BTC" digital gold. The problem is, it misses out on one of the most important features of gold. Which is the fact that you can use it to do SOMETHING other than serve as money.

ETH has other utility besides being used as money, so I think there is a good argument for it being closer to digital gold.

BTC and ETH are both shit, not gold. Both of them are basically fiat with deflation properties. On the other hand gold is real metal which is used in many productions like electronics for example. So you're trying to give properties of gold to void.
