shitcoins aren't currencies, they are securities, they are speculative stocks. people buy them for the sole reason that they think it will go up in value which makes them completely useless as a currency. the overwhelming majority of coins and tokens are not needed at all, their main functions is solely so the developers can raise money to fund the project
