Playing video games is a form of work. In fact, beating a video game unironically has more positive impact on this clown world than most of the work wagies do.

Being active and feeling a sense of accomplishment from what you do is good for the soul, but the kind of work mandated by the economic system is repetitive nonsense that is ultimately soul sapping.

Inspiring and I agree with you. I have $200k saved up right now, enough for a year at least, but I am concerned about being able to go back into the workforce with a gap year on my resume. Any advice for this?

That's enough to last at least 4 years even in the most expensive parts of the world.

I would discourage it. I did it, but for the wrong reasons.
I did do some personal projects, but they were still worthless at the end of it and I had to lower my pay to get back into the workforce.
The only reason you should quit a job is if your side project is so successful that you're going to make more money from it than your job.

Well yeah, sure, it's just the issue of having a gap on my resume that worries me, because clearly 200k isn't enough to retire.
>>14208632
Kind of true really, but the depression is caused by work.
>>14208697
I've considered this. The only problem is that most part-time jobs I know of would look just as useless as a gap year to the employers I have, I think. I'm interested in data analysis and actuarial work. What you're saying sounds nice too though.

My current job is in a dead-end career with terrible salary and I despise working here so I'm quitting and trying to get back into my old industry (which was actuarial work) regardless. But taking a gap year in between has certainly crossed my mind.

I can't bring myself to do it. I made the $200k in crypto but it means so much to me now because I hate my job so much that I'm too attached to it. I still have about $50,000 in BTC and ETH left that I'm enjoying watching grow but I'm far too attached to the rest of it to go down that road again. I had about $270,000 in crypto at the end of 2017, for reference.

the eternal neet is a mindset, not a lifestyle.

What happens when you waste so much time, and fall so far behind, is that you begin to overcompensate, and those things you used to enjoy for pleasure, don't seem to matter anymore. Nothing ends up mattering and you end up looking for a purpose, and a drive. And once you find it. You become a workhorse with a soul.

>> No.14210294

But you dont only work for money, you work for that purpose. That purpose usually is so grand that you can't take any days off or even entertain the idea of wasting time. That is the eternal NEET.

Setting goals and completing tasks is all you have to do. Even if you never have to go to a job again, it's good to have hobbies and be productive.
