Just dont list any references from that job if you didnt have it very long. Gap in the resume might look bad if you dont list it at all, but you can just make something up.
I helped a friend by filling in at his job for a few months. Didnt do anything but basic bitch metal shop work while working my "real" job at the same time. I didnt know shit about welding or fabrication, and when the 2-3 month stint comes up in interviews, I tell them the truth.

Now if you're just a complete fuckup, then that will come out in due time. You dont have to out yourself right away though...
