My friend sold his bitcoin cash on coinbase and didn't report it
He got caught up in the IRS coinbase case and got fucked
All he had to do was pay 0 cost basis gains but now he's going to have to sell his bitcoin to pay for his lawyer and fines if he wants to avoid jail
Also yeah he has to pay tax on his bitcoin to pay tax penalties so he's is so fucked he might kill himself

I cashed out 1/3 of my stack in jan '18 to retire. I bought a vacant lot in one of the trump "opportunity zones" under a company a created. Then I "invested" in my own company which defers the taxes indefinitely under the tax cuts and jobs act. Then my company "invested" that into my house which I live in now and a truck. In 10 years I can just divest the rest of the money into cash tax free too. US tax law is retarded.
