Hey Biz

I just discovered I’ve made a mistake at work it’ll cost around $30k USD. Wat do?
I’ve only worked this job for a year, and have just received a job offer froma rival comp. that I haven’t answered yet (same job same pay)

>Switch jobs before it’s discovered
Easy way out, only worked here (first job) for a year though

>play stupid and blame the losses on something else in the project.
This is actually possible for a while unless i get detail-reviewed ahead of time. It will probably eventually get discovered in 4-5 months time

>Blame it on someone else once it’s discovered.
This is possible. My next-in-line leader was supposed to check all my numbers and calculations, I’m new so I needed extra supervision. He approved it, and he has since quit the firm.

>Come clean
Probably least attractive option,

Obviously blame it on the guy who left. Get with the program anon. Back date some documents. Say he asked you to change those numbers etc

The last option, assuming they can't find a way to sue you. If you're in America then there is always a way that they can sue you.

This.

I don't think a company can sue you for that kind of thing but I sure as fuck wouldn't admit to that shit.

Leaning towards this option. I don‘t think they even can sue me, either way I’ve had extremely negligent supervision from the start

No one’s getting hurt, this is just a pricing error.

If someone actually got hurt you never have any other choice than to accept responsibility. I can play stupid/ignorant in this case

Be honest, state issues and plan to resolve - point out ways to improve.

Discretely share with both first and share how you plan to socialise. Ask for help

use your back up option if they choose to ask you to leave resign and take the other job

Companies that are good would value honesty

kys degenerates. do i have to pretend you're 7 and ask how you'd like it if someone did that to you? care about others or die psychopath fags

I'd try to go to your manager rather than wait for him to come to you. (if you honestly did not make the mistake on purpose)
the company probably has insurance. if you own up to it you will still have your reputation.

also
Why was there nobody above you, looking over what you've done, you've only worked there for a year.

are you retarded? the other guy is gone, and from op's description it was actually his responsibility. it's not even a victimless crime because there is no crime, but either way, nobody gets hurt
a rational solution is not about your nigger-tier ego, but minimizing damage for everyone involved. this is the zerocost solution, ergo the one op should follow

I was hired as a mid-tier manager of a department of around 40 people, there were 4 bosses above me in my department, but all 4 have now quit in protest of the top leadership. It’s currently me and a colleague trying to keep things running untill they’re replaced. Feeling like that young controller in Chernobyl atm

Ok so make sure to go about this the right way. When they come to you make sure to feign ignorance of the problem and point out the xyz signed off on the work. Don't sperg it up and go xyz did it *points fratically*. Play it cool

If your direct supervisor signed off on it then it's his fault. New hires make mistakes. That's why they are supervised.

Nobody is perfect and if you work in a team that is supposed to be checking each other's work, but that doesn't happen, it is not entirely your fault.

Anyways you should wait for it to be discovered then if they give you shit you can and should sue them.

>> No.14094988

>>14094958
this, it is literally your bosses fault
also start looking for a new job now so you can quit before its found out
