14093610 No.14093610 [Reply] [Original]

>be me
>currently working a government job
>got a new job
>starts in July
>have approx 55 accrued paid hours to waste
>most of these don't get paid out if I quit
>want to use all these hours so that after I turn in the 2 weeks notice I only show up a few days
>realized what if they terminate me early just so they don't have to pay out or denying it

Any ideas on how to avoid getting screwed over as it's evident there are multiple ways they can screw me over.

Also I have to give advanced notice of using these but I've got an idea of what to do to get it approved BEFORE I hand the 2 weeks notice.

Lie and tell them you have a "medical emeregency in the family"

Don't even tell them about your new job

And if they ask just say "cancer"

Nah, all government employees are welfare leeches

No intentions of telling them about the new job. I had a plan of making it look like an emergency but I don't trust them to let me waste my hours like they allowed the retirees.

Just take time off, but take some of it unpaid so it doesnt look like you're just trying to cash out. Claim you have to travel to Guam or some shit for your non-existent relatives wedding.
Then when you come back, put in your 2 weeks. You earned the hours, fuckem

I feel like I'm speaking to a bunch of retards whenever they talk about 2 week notices.

Take your time off and act like nothing is happening, and then quit without giving notice. There's literally nothing they can do about it, dumbass.

How do you attend an interview at another company without your company knowing? Take a sickie?

So you're saying use the hours before notifying them, correct? It'd be easy to pull off without having to lie.

>>14093711
As much as I desire to do that, they're one of the biggest employers in the area. Plus they'll like not rehire me into any of their departments, references isn't a problem getting rehired is when they're the biggest employer in the area. I'd like to just use it all and only come in 3 or 4 days at best during the 2 weeks notice.

this doesnt sound good

Yes. They would be 1000x more likely to shitcan you before you can use the hours if you told them you were leaving and then tried to use them.
Or if you're really trying to leave on good terms, maybe use half of them. Then tell them you're leaving and say "look, I just want to burn up my pto before I leave, if you let me go before I can, I understand." Etc, etc...

Op here again

>>14093776
I'm screwed if I attempt to get a different job with them in the future if I don't do a 2 weeks notice.

>>14093778
It might be a government job but I don't trust them to keep up the friendly charade if I turn in my 2 weeks notice and take 2/3 of the time off.

>>14093780
It's not a great job.

>>14093800
Idk how well that'd work.
