No, they give you a set of guidelines and principles. They'll teach you how to read charts, what do look for when doing fundamental analysis, and talk about what happened in the past. No book or person can predict the future. It's up to you to spend time in the market, develop good instincts and learn to trust them, handle your emotions, and above all, know when to cut your losses.

I actually have like 40+ different tickers owned at any given time on my RH
for those that are >1%, they are just sort of an extended watchlist

if you have to pay trade comissions -> just buy funds, get diversification with fewer transactions
with RH -> go nuts, why not? don't pay fund expenses, buy what you want in proper allocations
do your thing.
If you have the money and time to get and pay attention to 20, 50, 100+ positions, there isn't anything wrong with it. You might end up super diversified, but even with a ton of positions, depending what they are, you can develop a more specific position as well

the problems with it: can't do as much research for each individual position
if you buy a little and it goes up, you might FOMO and say 'I should have bought more'.

again it's mostly going to be based on how much money and time you have, but if you want to throw 0.5% of your account at a certain stock on a whim, as long as you aren't paying significant transaction, go ahead. It really won't hurt you.

multi-generational crab market <- this one is possible
the issue with Japan, though, is that there were other places for the money to go
Money can't really leave the US and flow into 'better' equity markets. In that way, we have a little more leverage to bend the rules and get away with it. Money would have to flow to treas and bonds and cash.
Earlier QE didn't inflate costs of goods in the 'real stuff' economy, the point is that if the fed buys equities directly they are just inflating the stock market in a targeted way.

another possibility is another technological revolution.
one serious breakthrough in superconducting materials, power generation, or batteries could wipe all the concerns away with real, new economic growth. I don't think anyone should bet on it, especially not in a time sensitive way, but it's not impossible ;^)

basically they will prop the market up, and if something snaps, it probably won't be a 'normal' hyperinflation. Company credit could fail, but with free money, it might hump through.

SO we're looking at two negative possible outcomes (not counting political, environmental externalities etc.):
the economy continues to not be as healthy as it would be with 'honest' policy, buy limps on, more inequality etc. etc.
OR something snaps and we spiral down
then there are positive possibilities too... but those are more like miracles

and another thing to understand is approximately what the size of the QE would be. We've been through this before, so we can kind of chart it out (hints of it are already beginning to be priced in)
Probably about the same as all the previous QE in the worst case, but possibly less.
Without a single point of failure, they can just 'throw another log on the fire' when it gets low, only ~50-175billion at a time, maybe 1Tr-2Tr total to ride out the next 6 years. nothing to lose our minds about.

Newfags don't understand the psychology of BigChadGuy. I have unrelenting respect for him as an investor because he cashes out and leaves retards holding the bags.
I have a strong belief that LCIguy took profits in the middle of February and beginning of June after getting his average down to around $4.00 based on all the screenshots he occasionally posted
But the key is this: Big5guy unironically believes /smg/ has the power to make and break stocks. He accused me of single handedly ruining ALTs bull run because I spammed the idea it was going to get delisted 2 years ago.
And to some extent I agree with him. Do you remember when we pushed CARV as a meme for newfags, and it pumped 3 days from a few whales after we started spamming it?
It is undeniable there are bored whales here, but I doubt any actually bought LCI

TL;DR LCIguy made literally tens of thousands of dollars on LCI and left the newfags of this thread holding the bags with an average of $9

$30*........ Don't cut yourself short.

If everyone itt just simply bought LCI in a cash account and put a sell limit really fucking high it'll move upward in a very very fun to watch speed... the problem is a lot of people itt simply don't understand how stocks work so they get scared out of their position or they penny flip and kill momentum.... if you do the math and see how many shares are actually trading amongst retail you'll realize there are very few and the more retail that gets out the better..... unless those retail traders know what to do...

This is fine, this isn't what reddit spacing is, and anybody who claims that a double enter is a reddit space is an absolute retard

Right now it's 3 companies in 1:
elevators (otis)
air conditioning (carrier)
jet engines

they are going to break out into 3 companies so you will get new shares in them.

Then the jet engine company is going to merge with Raytheon (RTN). They will make the most advanced missiles and jet engines in the world. Debt and other financials are pretty solid, and it pays a decent dividend. DYOR tho

I'd buy some now and buy some again later especially if it keeps going down.

Usually if one company buys another the buyer's stock goes down and the company getting bought goes up (usually the buyer pays a premium). In this case they are calling it a merger of equals and there is no premium that will be paid

It's curious UTX is down (even RTN now). In the premarket when the news came out RTN was up 7% and UTX was up 3%.

Just buy and hold this shit for a year while the spinoffs and mergers happen (2020) and I'm pretty sure you are going to make a good return

One book teaches you that up is down and the other teaches you that down is up. So the majority of what you read in the books is total trash that may in fact actually do you more harm than good. Out of 100 books, the actual stuff of value could probably be summarized on a single page. Don't dedicate too much time to books. 10 good ones TOPS should drill all the meaningful shit home and most of it deals with not blowing up your account in a day which should be common sense.

Going further though with regards to "trader education", the majority of podcasts and interviews with "traders" or "coaches" or bullshit like that are more like interviews with con artists basically parroting the crap they read in the books which again doesn't actually work. Sometimes they preach new age crap like meditation and affirmations as well because you know, the reason the market instantaneously blows your stops and resumes trend is because you aren't thinking positive and praying to Krishna. Avoid them.

The majority of YouTube "traders" are scam artists as well. Every so often once of these guys steps out of line and the SEC or CFTC nails them and checks their accounts and such and every single time they are shown to have never had a profitable trading account. Sometimes they also mess up and try to give tips on something more verifiable than trading like diets or exercise which reveals them as the bullshit artists that they are. What's scary is you listen to these people and they sound so convincing.

I've traded all sorts of different ways, listened to all sorts of guys, read all sorts of books. Been in chat rooms, discords, and so on. Just about the only way to reliably make money are, from a risk management standpoint, suicidal over the long run like option selling, buy-and-hold/dollar cost averaging, etc. Maybe there are opportunities on other markets outside the U.S. as well, but the day-trading, swing-trading, patterns/setups stuff is all complete horse shit in 2019

In terms of tqqq id wait till it goes higher and buy puts/sqqq or buy tqqq now and cash out small gains asap. last week I bought tqqq, made a great call. Idk if id do that this week cause a pull back in the next week is pretty likely since its shot up so much. I wouldnt buy in again this week. I’ll probably hold a little longer this week and cash out.
