Why isn't the Secret Service prosecuting Tether for printing and coining dollars without the authority of the U.S. Congress?

Several years ago someone in Oklahoma or Texas started issuing "Freedom Dollars" that were redeemable for one ounce of silver - a reincarnation of the silver backed dollar. Secret Service shut them down for counterfeiting.

Tether is one step worse, in that they aren't even redeemable for anything. They're arbitrarily issued to inject liquidity into the crypto market, which in-turn affects the circulating supply of the U.S. Dollar, which is the sort of thing that U.S. doesn't fuck around with. You may be safe from SEC jurisdiction by operating in off-the-wall countries, but the Secret Service can pretty much go anywhere that isn't Iran or N. Korea to stop counterfeiting.

I dont know how this isn't obvious to everyone on this board by now. When the boomers call crypto a tulip/ponzi/scam almost universally yet it keeps growing and it seems to be solely very tech and finance oriented 30 year olds and very young adults that are drawn to crypto its not just a generational gap. Well in a way it is, its just a generational gap explioited to the max. They can't let capital systems fail, they just can't or else we will lose all of our progress. Crypto is wealth redistribution, market resets, and capital control all rolled into one. Think who would benefit from a world shift.

My friend is a dev in the space and was at the Scaling Ethereum conference. From his perspective crypto is a very promising industry but it's almost universally vaporware and most Ethereum devs are naïve millenials who only think they're building useful shit. In my opinion there's maybe 20 coins that are actually going anywhere. Everything else is garbage.

I agree 100%, I dont think they care though, I think they set it up for the entire industry to be vaporware on purpose. Its much easier to orchestrate the world economy that way

What are you talking about OP? They've already been sued by the NYAG and $850 million was seized from one of their offices. In fact, bitcoin itself is a type of counterfeiting if you think about it. The only difference is tether is centralized and controlled by a single authority with an address. They're a low hanging fruit the gov has already taken a bite out of.

Have you been following the tether case at all?
