I know math is a little hard for mouthbreathers like you, but the principle investment (as shown in the account screen) is a little over 8k. The unrealized profit from these yearlong holds alone is $2,503.02, a yield of about 31% in the past year. Compare this to the SP500 which has yielded only 3.11% in the past year. But yeah, +31% bad stock picks, oh so bad. They're so bad that they also paid me above 31% in the form of quarterly dividends too, oh noooo

150k is in JPM money market acct and I've thought about the 250k FDIC insurance limit, breaking it up across multiple big name banks (but a bit spooked because 2008 happened and no bank is completely trustworthy. Especially after I've been seeing WFC in the news the past few years). I do understand having most of it in one bank is even risker, however.

Also, high yield savings are very enticing but almost all of the best yields are at out of state small banks and online only banks. The big banks that are """seemingly""" safer all have trash savings yields.

Here's the long and short of it, I don't want to hand it over to a fund manager, I'd rather know exactly how an investment works and put the money there myself. I think the risk-free low yield areas are where most of this cash will be until I die. But I do want to know what goes into the cooking of an investment product and pull the trigger myself.

but you're familiar with all the TSLA employee stories?

All the SpaceX employees I've ever seen have been manlets, like 5'3". They come to the location I work at for certain testing, all I'm gonna say.

What is the market cap that they're trying to imply based on your shares/pay period? (IE, what are they telling you each share is worth?)

I'd be very wary, but some at the same time, even if SpaceX struggles with profitability just like UBER, that doesn't mean its necessarily a bad place to be employed for a couple years, might look very good on a resume.

I'd go for it assuming the stocks they're promising you are worth ~30% of whatever they tell you. Then, if they end up being worth more, great.

I changed my mind after looking at their dress selection and seeing that they were Australian
if it was a US company and did a better job of having cute models in cute dresses, I'd go all in. I'd buy the company out of bankruptcy myself

but it's a bit of a shitshow, they have no pricing power and I don't like their dresses. They obviously can't afford models with immaculate feets so they're hiring whatever girls they can find on the streets in Australia.

DO NOT double down.

it should be SUPER easy to make money selling girls clothing, because dresses are just cut fabric and a little bit o stitching, then you spend 90% of your budget on modelling pics and marketing. but somehow this company isn't making it. >Ok, just point me to the guy so I can give him a firm handshake.
firm handshake meme is 2016, to get a real good job in 2019 you have to find a cute lady supervisor and rub your hog all over her feet.
It's still kind of a secret for now, so if you know this trick you will be WAY ahead of the curve.
The firm handshake thing existed in a world where men where in charge of hiring 100%, now it's all HR ladies. They want you to violate their feet, but they won't tell you.
good luck ;)

space chips are interesting because there are all sorts of extra hoops you have to jump through: can't use certain sizes/types of semiconductors, have to have tons of redundancy in case a cosmic flips your bits, etc.

President Donald Trump is poised to turn the $5.1 trillion-a-day global currency market into the next battlefield in his trade war with a proposal that has set two U.S. government agencies on a collision course.

> A Commerce Department proposal to impose countervailing tariffs on countries that it determines have devalued their currencies has alarmed officials at the Treasury Department, according to four people familiar with the matter.
> They are wary of market disruptions and a politicization of foreign-exchange policy, among other concerns, the people said.

Can get an ok dividend on those too. 7k over 30 different companies sounds like you're too diversified for your port tho, you should consolidate that into your highest RoE winners and attempt to write covered calls, or keep them all and write spreads on something like spy to protect from downside if most of them are components of it.

I don't think its sustainable as eventually your money starts affecting the price of the ETF too much. I know you can still use 100k, but I'm not sure after that.

Most of my trades are good man, I just do the analysis. Most of these small red days are from not realizing pre market gains, but I'm still learning. I'd be happy to teach you how I learned it if you want.
40% in a month is unlikely to be just luck, you only have to be right 1/3 of the time if you utilize proper risk management.

Give me your email so I can send you my gains next month and then we'll talk for real.
If not, I hope you have a wonderful life and lots of profit. Hopefully your attitude will get better as well.

While that guy seems to have a stick up his ass you don't know what you're doing as well as you think you do.

You're not even making real money, which means you're not dealing with real volume.

Keep making some baby bux and learning but you really have nothing to brag about. If you think you've got it all figured out that's foreshadowing you cratering your port. You're a loser. We're all losers, don't kid yourself.

Go read Alexander Elder's book.

Don't be a retard with your money and accept the fact that you're a loser.

When your head gets big you start losing money. The market is a big, unpredictable thing and just because you made a couple hundred dollars in one month doesn't mean anything.

I have single plays that do twice, sometimes three times, as much in their fluctuations alone.

Your one month is a drop in the bucket. You need to be doing this consistently. And you won't be trying to flaunt babby gains in the stock thread after one month.

I had gains once.

Now gains sound like a sweet memory. Getting back to 0 is not going to be easy.

I guess I have 4 hours to sleep before the bell. And it looks like I’m in for an absolute JUSTing. My bear positions are bleeding out...

I should probably set stoplosses on those

Yeah got too bold after calling the right moves enough times. Just got trampled by the “golden” bull.

I didn’t think the market would respond so positively to Powell’s noncommittal response to a rate hike. I still wonder if he’ll actually give it to us as soon as July, which is what the market seems to believe.

But don’t game the Fed seems like the obvious lesson. Also, don’t DCA down in volatile fucking biomemes, and don’t set your stoplosses too tight (but set them tight in bear ETFs?)

>> No.14042151

>>14042123
Not setting a tight stop loss immediately after a play if you're not longing it is dumb. (Even if you are longing it you should be using stop losses)

You should've had a 2% stop loss set that would've for you or of that and you'd be reevaluating it on the sidelines to decide how to handle it instead of hoping and praying that you get good news.

Especially shorting, no stop loss on a short is smooth brained.

The largest your gain can be on a short is 100%, the largest your loss can be is technically infinite.

>> No.14042159

what if i told you that you could just buy SPY and enjoy a 10% yearly gain and literally do nothing

That’s what freaks me out about shorting, and why I opt for levereged inverse etf. They can’t tak more money than the amount I bought, right? They can’t just say qqq went up, so now I have to buy more sqqq?

Thanks for your advice.

>> No.14042261

>>14042208
No you can't lose more than you put in if you're being short that way.

Still not worth not using stop losses though.

Live and learn. Big gains are nice, but capital preservation is your first goal. Consistent positive results are your second. Big gains are your lowest priority.
