that's a bull put credit spread, you're risking $7.50 to make $4.50 on the idea LCI will be above $10 by yoru strike. I mean i guess since you get the credit your really risking $3 to make $4.50 on the thought LCI will go up 100%.... so you're basically cucking your self out of 50% of your potential gains on the 1 in 10 million chance that LCI goes above $10 by july

A call is the right to buy 100s of a stock at a certain price (strike) in exchange for paying a fee (premium). Selling a call means you‘re taking the opposite of that trade - you‘re willing to sell your shares at the strike and you‘ll receive premium for doing so.

As for owning LCI, I can‘t say I‘d recommend it.

A Call Option Contract is the right - but not the obligation - to buy a set number of shares directly from another investor's account at a guaranteed price.

Someone who writes a Call is Selling-to-Open an Options Position to a speculator.

The writer/seller of a Call Option hopes that the underlying asset price does not move well above the Strike Price listed on the Call Option so they can collect the Premium Payment from the speculator who bought it from them.

>company improving, secure contracts, paying off debt, beating earnings

>scandal

They've got a history of "scandal"
-FDA downgrades and attempts to withdraw approval for drugs, only halted by legal petition
- EPA violations
- price fixing
- failure to disclose end of contract in earnings report (cooking the books, exaggerating future earnings)
- CEO had to panic quit
- Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Operations Officer, Maureen Cavanaugh, as well as LCI's current Director of National Accounts, Tracy Sullivan-DiValerio, are named in the suit.

This play is risky as fuck
the only thing I'd say that isn't accounted for is the push for american generics over chinese generics because trade war

Do they manufacture any of their drugs in China? Is that why the FDA found their Glycolax, Concerta, and ritalin to be low quality?

There's way too much smoke here for you to think there's no fire. Company is going to be in court forever, and can't seem to avoid criminal activity.

Correct.

You write (Sell-to-Open) Calls to another investor in the hopes that they do not execute their Option Contract and assign it to your account.

Example using easy numbers:

>ACME is changing hands at $20 a share

You believe it will snibble along sideways for the next month.

You Sell-to-Open next Friday's Call Option at the $25 strike price.

Your client who is Buying-to-Open their speculative position thinks they know something, and wants to be able to call away your shares at $25 all day. The buyer is hoping for a rally to $30 a share so they can call away your shares at $25 and sell them immediately in the market at $30 a share for an instant profit.

ACME trades for the next two weeks and ends up at $19.97 per share.

Call Option Contract expires worthless.

You profit off the premium collected with no further legal obligations to deliver to anyone in the market.

They have green carpet (kind of dingy), a couple of normal chairs, two or three small vases of fake flowers and a bigger pot with real flowies in it. Most importantly they have a keurig machine that they never stop me from making multiple cups of coffee from when I walk out. Their downtown location by the grocery store is much nicer, they have sleek matching silver furniture and ipads for people to use.

I sell him the option to buy my shares at $6.50/share next Friday, charging him a premium that he pays up front, and if it doesn't reach $6.50 I pocket the premiums and keep my shares?

>Correct. Buy the underlying LCI shares in round lots (multiples of 100 shares). 1 Option Contract = 100 Shares of Underlying Stock. Sell-to-Open Call Contracts at a $6.50 Strike Price for $XX.xx Premium. You are paid/credited $XX.xx in Premium Cash Money to your account. If it does not reach $6.50 on the underlying plus the Premium and commissions paid to purchase your Call Option then it you will not be assigned.

How is this not just making free money off of people who are too hopeful?

>Is pretty much is.

As long as I set the execution price of the option above my average cost per share, even in the even it does go to $7 I got paid extra to leave the market early?

>Yes. You are essentially selling off potential upside return for an almost guaranteed profit cap. So if LCI is $5.50 a share, you write a Call for the $6.50 Strike, and it's assigned at $7.00 per share -- and Called away from your account, then you've made a profit of $1.00 per Share plus your Premium Payment collected.

always always always remember what prices are
for options and for stocks, a 'PRICE' is the most important concept for a trader or investor to understand. For options and for stocks, a price is the SAME thing. I only stress it because lots of people imagine options prices as a sort of magical thing.
A price that an options contract is written at is an agreed upon price that the buyer and seller both agree to. The options and stocks that you can buy and sell in robinhood are being sold/bought by other real parties to the transaction.

so instead of researching companies, you could be researching 'how to research companies'
look at the research that other people do and publish and take that kind of thing into account.

then understand that it's all priced in anyway, the only research that you could do on companies you'd have to really know a lot.
All the basic fundamentals that you can look up online are mostly priced in. So just by researching those it's super unlikely that you will beat the market.

If you're investing in biopharmas, you need years of experience at least, probably a decade of study and experience on the investing side of things and the actual pharmaceutical side of things. You can't just browse a couple SA articles and expect to clap the cheeks of the market.

If you want to really understand stocks, companies, the economy, and the market (money, bonds, commodities...) you have to read a lot.
There is an ever-growing complexity to the stock market and financial systems, they basically never get simpler.

like it'll take months of reading to get all the basics. reading about stocks in general, researching certain stocks, and watching their performance. Then you think you understand it all and BOOM! a discontinuity. something unpredictable happens from no where and completely moves any prices you were watching.

Meanwhile, there are millions (tens of millions) of well-educated people around the world working hard to make money in the same 'game'. And those people want it just as much as you do, no matter how much money they have. And while it isn't all zero-sum, certain parts of it are, and a lot of it sort of pretty much is (in terms of alpha over the markets).

https://b-ok.cc/book/661789/26f06d

'it' is just making a bit more than index funds
If you really want 'it', you're going to have to work for it really hard. you're going to also have to try and work for 'it' in intelligent ways that no one has thought of. You're going to have to try and find opportunities that others overlook. You're going to have to question yourself and your emotions ceaselessly, like an obsession, like you're paranoid always that you're sabotaging your own mission to just stay afloat, to just tread water

AMRN - Will see you make Profit. Either via a buyout or via Sales. The only difference is a buyout would see you get your money sooner.

At the low end I stand to make $18k. The high end is 40k. Either way I've made more than what I've got in the market as a whole. (13.5k). So I'd recoup my investment money and make a bit extra plus still have my other holdings making me even more money down the road.

Basically, we have an inverted yield curve, but people said it wasn't a valid signal for a bunch of nonsense reasons.

This is going to steepen the curve and make sure the recession is going to happen 100%. Add this to the other chaos in the market and you have a recipe for 2008 and more.

>>13925611
Checked, and Based.
But VZ, Comcast, and Dis will tear apart T, S, and TMUS, then they will feast on the remains to grow stronger.

>>13925760
Ah. Well the fact that it has to be a sustained inversion isn't nonsense, also it hasn't hit the "correct" bonds yet, right? And then we have to juice the stockmarket to an ATH before it comes crashing down.

Isn't that how it's supposed to go down?

I think you'll find in the long run T will reward you plenty. Consider:

So far this year they've paid down more debt than they had anticipated in doing for the year as a whole; on track to pay down 75% of a 40 billion debt by eoy. They did/are doing this without the full 5G rollout, without Time Warner fully up to speed, without the Streaming Service and without cutting the Divvy. So just think once everything is fully online what that'll mean.

The First Net/Xandor/Latin America unit is growing revenues. The Legacy parts still bring in revenue.

They bring in more Cash now than both Dis and Comcast The leftover cash is more than enough to cover Divvy payouts with room for growth.

Just saying; the debt, people look at the debt and run for it. But they don't see what lurks behind it. It's what you don't see is the things that makes T well worth your money.

The bonds that have inverted and the depth of their inversion is an indicator that has predicted EVERY recession since 1955.
Are you sure you want to bet against that?

But Trudeau and... Mexico know he's not bluffing, any chance they bang it out ahead of then?

Is he just mad at us because we think he kinda maybe obstructed just a tiny bit of justice?

I love cheapies, and I love DIS, but as soon as they get their first active shooter at DisneyWorld or DisneyLand... it's gonna be a quick trip down, followed by possible copycats and a reduction in patronage.

If it were terrorism, we'd at least get the "we have to go to Disney or the terrorists win" people, but now we're our own terrorists.

But they're going to ROCK streaming

How many cheap goods do you think come in from Mexico? I'll give you a hint: a lot. The globalized economy also means a hit to Mexico will naturally hit us, thanks to the people moving money to Mexico (remittances + investments) and those moving it to US (capital flight, etc).

https://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/mex/

70% of Mexico's exports are to the US, and 50% of their imports are from us.

https://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/usa/

Mexico's our largest importer, at 15% of our exports, 14% of our imports are from Mexico. They're roughly as big as China when it comes to trade, and they're triple Japan's size of our trade. This is only slightly better than China tariffs, if only due to the rate. The surprise of doing it might be rather painful.

Heh, I got Comcast, T, and Dis. I can't lose no mater what happens when it comes to the Streaming Wars.

Consider: Netflix got to be where it is just by streaming alone (before they added there own content). I'm referring to the stock price as well. So it stands to reason that T, Comcast,Dis stock will also gain by streaming to.

The problem with the yield curve is that even if it's one of the best indicator of a coming recession, it's not that great at telling us WHEN it will happen.
Historically a recession happened 8 to 18 months AFTER an inversion.
So even after an inversion the markets can reach new highs.
So the recession can as well be in December 2020 after the election especially if the FED goes all in in order to "save" the markets.
I would wait at least until the next FED meeting in June 19 02:00PM ET and of course see what happens at the next G20 meeting and eventual talks between XI and Trump.
So for the moment I would sit on my cash and wait until the beginning of July to make any moves.
