13913361 No.13913361 [Reply] [Original]

>A second copyright registration (number TX0008726120) for the white paper has appeared on the public catalog of the United States Copyright Office, indicating that a certain Wei Liu is also claiming to have originated the work under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.

>Currently, it is not clear who Wei Liu is or why the registration was filed. However, it may well be that it is a counter to Wright’s move to assert ownership of fundamental bitcoin property. That came amid a flurry of legal threats from Wright against those who claim he is not Satoshi as he has claimed on various occasions – though he has yet to provide indisputable proof, such as a movement of Satoshi’s bitcoin.

So what does this mean? If CSW wants to use his copyright he has to prove to be SN first, right? Otherwise the other claimant could sue CSW and vice versa of any of the two use the copyright for financial gains.

Solely based on their living conditions, this guy doesn't appear to have the money to brute force his way through the legal system the same way as a certain other claimant. Either way there are three possibilities:

1. He is trying to manipulate the legal system in his favor.

2. He did it to prove how easy it is to get a patent and spite CSW.

3. He's Satoshi Nakamoto

Patent != Copyright.

There's different standards to be upheld.

Copyright has bugger all proof required, which is why CSW chose this route. Typical con man.

The 'copyright' registration of itself is near fucking useless - where it -might- come in handy would be either as building block for proof of invention evidence, were you attempting to claim 'patent' over Bitcoin - patent is way more complex process, with higher proof levels and disqualification via prior art, etc. - or, just as fake credential if you were trying to establish some credibility for a shitcoin otherwise ran and operated by known criminals. In all cases, actually makes sense for creg to file copyright, he's had his $55 worth already - but a patent application would be a different story, chances of success there near null, everyone and his dog will object
